DJ Marky is a proper veteran; both in terms of music and our working relationship. And as such it always feels a bit daunting to really know where to start when introducing him. Sure, he's had chart hits alongside underground smashes but that doesn’t really cut to the core of him. What’s fact is that the Brazilian master has been hosting parties here under the Marky & Friends and (his record label) Innerground banners here for a number of years now and, what's emphatically telling is that he remains one of the most energetic and entertaining DJs we've had the pleasure to host. Committed to putting movement in his music at all costs Marky’s returning to Farringdon next Friday to appear next to Calibre and Nightmares On Wax so he's put together the latest Marky & Friends mix which, with typical sun soaked flair, harbours more than a few handsome drum & bass nuggets…

DJ Marky - Marky & Friends Mix (Aug 2014)

The UK's Jamaican soundsystem culture was a massive influence to the 3 Dutch producers who make music under 'The Illuminated' moniker. The outfit consists of Dyzz, Rebus & Vence’s & their sound represents the earlier dubstep, with inspiration drawn from the same places as the sound’s forefathers. The trio may have only been producing together for a few years, but they’re quick on their way to joining the likes of Noisia, Icicle, Proxima & TMSV as internationally known & respected Dutch bass music producers. 

One of their first productions ‘Scavenger' caught the attention of Skream & Benga on Radio 1. Support from other big names quickly followed with the likes of Joe Nice, who’s often quick to rewind many an Illuminated tune, Wheel & Deal's N-Type & Biscuit Factory Records' Walsh lining up to support The Illuminated’s music. The trio have a number of releases lined up for 2014, with an astounding new EP due out in March.
