The piano is called Kashubian owing to the fact that the instrument dwelt on the property of our landlords during the early part of the last century in the region of Poland (Kaszuby), known for it's particular culture and language. Sometimes rendered in English writing as Kasubian or Cassubian, and sometimes called Pomeranian, reflecting the diversity of opinions whether or not the language is a dialect of Polish or a language unto itself. The region itself also has separatist history. In any case, if the piano has anything to say about it, it should feel free to speak to me, since I am a mere witness to such comings and goings.

prepared piano, radio, wire antenna, snail shells, turntable, looper, electric guitar, piezo microphones, microphones.  a process environment developed in response to cornelius cardew's graphic score treatise.  live prepared piano playing partly transmitted through the radio whose wire antenna which is woven through the piano wires is recorded by condenser mics and self-designed piezo plates the re-played live with the addition of snail shells slowing down intoning an old record and other piano accompaniment as well as electric guitar. this is part 1 of a 32 minute set. enjoy, comment. share.  thanks.
