Very interesting to listen a bass and a guitar that are quite aligned to each other. Almost without distintion, even though I think the bass is on the right side of the speaker, and the guitar on the left side.

The theme is really haunting and the climax is awesome. Very good!

Composite field recordings modified and mixed with a live sound feed on September 15 reworked somewhat today in Suceava at Residentia de creatie. Thanks to Rustic Camping Spot and Dan Prodan for cooperation and letting me work in and around them. Recordings include VLF captures from Baile Herculane and shortwave radio and turntable. 

Viile Satu Mare Sept 15 Composition

Recordings from July 28 and 29 reflect the peculiar ambiance of a multitasking bridge over the Danube near Borcea, where the two counties divide. In the darkness the source of the various drones and incidental noises become mysterious because untraceable. Enjoyable because not so loud as to be alarming although sometimes these sounds can be disquieting. This is a work in progress for an album I hope to complete during my residency here in Suceava. 2025.09.13 Golden Whistler. Ngarkat Dawn. Early Spring.

A wide and deep, gently rhythmically hypnotic, mallee heathland dawn, from an evening to morning recording made with a mid-side rig utilising an omnidirectional mid microphone. (Relaxed listening with good quality headphones with flat frequency response, especially open-backed, at a moderate volume, is ideal. But what you hear, and how you hear it, depends, most of all, on what you're listening for, and  how you're listening. This is not a 'pop' recording (and no apologies for that).)

2025.09.13 Ngarkat Dawn. Early Spring.

In Sanskrit, ‘Prakanda’ is the trunk of a tree, from its root to its branches. Additionally, it can mean ‘excellent’, ‘prominent’, ‘superior’ and ‘transcendent’.

I explored ideas about trees by listening to various artists’ recordings using contact microphones inside the trees. I also spent hours walking in ancient woodlands, listening and observing them. But I couldn’t find what I wanted until, by accident, I discovered the most beautiful images of tree-rings. They reminded me of the surface of a desert, the ocean, the patterns of water; the references might be endless. 

Each tree-ring has its own structure, form and appearance and they became my main source of inspiration. In the music I have mapped these images into many sonic patterns, the music’s structure based on independent melodic lines, each with its own time, pitch, timbre and articulation.

The work was commissioned by the Lithuanian Association LATGA, by Music Authors Fund in 2025.

The piece was premiered by ensemble Kwartludium (Poland): Dagna Sadkowska (violin), Piotr Nowicki (piano), Michal Gorczynski (bass clarinet), and Pawel Nowicki (percussion) at International Contemporary Music festival Gaida, on 26th October, Vilnius, Lithuania, 2025.
