Lonely Man [Operator]

On the evening of August 27, 2022 the @warningberlin crew invited me to play the opening set of that evening at the tent of ://about.blank. The party had already been going for a day and I was the first one after the Trancesetters of Westphalia, who played a powerful Acid/Trance-liveset in the garden.
First I was a bit torn between the option to completely reset the vibe or to play the set backwards, moving from 110 bpm downwards. But I decided for the reset, which proved to be the right decision three hours later.
Compared to the other sets to be found on this channel, it's way slower than usual - starting with Jazz, field recordings and then ranging from 75 to 100 bpm.

Done with Ableton Live 11.1.6, a Novation LaunchControl XL, and these tracks, of which there are quite some loops, which glue this whole thing together:

Welcome back after another brief hiatus we're back and we have a beast of a mix from the big man Perseus Traxx! We kick off with some cracking Gated bits. We caught up with Perseus AKA Nigel to see what we can expect from himover the next few months.

On May 26th I’m back there again doing the first live show in a very long time, alongside the legend that is Derek Carr. I’m really looking forward to this one. The Imaginarium is a truly brilliant little venue, recently set up by my friend Roya and her associates, with 'Plant and Deck' selling records and plants on the ground floor next to a small cafe bar and space upstairs for, yoga, open mic, acoustic, and parties upstairs. There's a real family feeling in there, and a brilliant place to hang out, with frequent in-store sessions for the shop, and intermittent broadcasts for NARR Radio. It’s only about 110 capacity so anyone wanting to come down should keep their eyes peeled and maybe check out The Imaginarum Facebook page or website:

We're changing course from our regular format to release a very special mix by our friend and previous guest @rupert-marnie, label boss of the Hamburg-based imprint @ThePressGroup. Marnie has just released his latest album "Evocative Rhythm Experience" on The Press Group and to celebrate this occasion, he has created an ambient mix using only the tracks from the first record of the double LP. The mix is the perfect companion for relaxation and introspection, and it's the perfect mix to supplement your chill-out sessions. 

To enhance the listening experience, Hamburg-based cinematographer Lars Zimmermann has created a meditative video that perfectly complements the music, which we have premiered on our YouTube channel. The video is compatible with unwinding down after a long night out, having a lazy Sunday afternoon, or just zoning out with some lovely images.

 Katerina is a Finnish Bulgarian artist. It’s hard to choose where to start with her immense background and experience, how about that she runs labels Émotsiya and Kotarak, releasing music from the likes of Sansibar, djrubio and Exploited Body. Or that she’s of course an active touring DJ with experience from the biggest clubs in the world, to the most underground dens in Helsinki. Hah, almost forgot that to top it all of she’s a producer with releases on labels such as Running Back, Cómeme, Hivern Discs, Tigersushi and Rhythm Section…. So yeah, try beating that. 

 Katerina pulls from natural textures and ambient as much as G-Funk in her music, making for a truly idiosyncratic style where she finds the somewhat impossible balance between eclecticism and a well-thought-out thread.  

This mentioned balance is evident in her mix for this series. Grab a note pad, pencil and sit down. Class is in session, and Katerina is the teacher for the next hour.

I’m revisiting the first Zenlike Creature album and, I guess, tweaking the mix and remastering. Whilst I am very proud of my work, I’ve learned so much over the last few years that I listen back and wish I could have mixed it better.

Now, I know some folk are purists (see the Star Wars back against George and the 97 reissues) but all I want to do here is enhance what I wrote and produce, not add anything that wasn’t there in the original. Just a better balanced mix and master.

One of the most active figures that Rotterdam has to offer, Jeff Solo has been steadily working as a DJ, producer and event programmer for over a decade. With an extensive array of genres at his command, ranging from experimental and leftfield house & electronics to techno, slowbeat, wave, disco, boogie, and hip hop, Jeff is able to move crowds in any direction.

While refining his production skills and in addition to a constant flow of DJ gigs, Jeff also co-founded Operator in 2017, an online community radio station that’s deeply rooted in Rotterdam.
