It’s my heart calling

this is a song that I found over 25 years ago and it is a song that really spoke to me and I used to sing it so often as I felt it was a message coming from the soul to me to say that the heart wants me to address the dark shadows and the pain and to find that healing and that in that healing I would find myself also that I would be free.  As this song comes from a soundtrack to a film about Joan of Arc.  She is to me a good example of how religion manipulates and tells you that you are not able to speak to God that early church people are able to do this many churches still teach this thing and it is not true.  She has always ben an example of how corrupt religion is and how it has been used to manipulate and make up the laws to suit those in power and to get rid of anyone that challenges them.

Niche Crush are Ollie & Loz, one from Blackpool, one from Liverpool, now living by the sea in Margate, which isn’t a pool, it’s a gate. They formed in late 2021 after drinking too many bottles of orange WKD and deciding it would be a good idea to start a band and play a gig at a spoken word event in Merthyr Tydfil, in Wales. Since that rather bizarre choice of first gig, the band have been playing their socks off where/whenever they can. They’ve also been busy writing and recording a bunch of songs in their bedroom; songs that are all named after people: people they like, people they hate, ex-girlfriends, ex-boyfriends or people with names they just think sound funny.

There’s loads songs to come, so many songs, more songs than you can stand, with verses, choruses and middle 8 breaks. Last count they have more than 50. And so, in addition to this full release, the band will also be dropping a new track every Monday on their Soundcloud page to download for free, until they get bored / run out of songs. 

So yeah. Niche Crush. That’s them. Two Hollyoaks Punks from Margate, drunk on orange WKD, falling down a flight of stairs after recording in their bedroom. They’re boss. They’re your new Niche Crush.

Indie-pop singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bryony Williams shares her new single, 'Trip Me Up' out everywhere on 29 February. 'Trip Me Up' is a heavenly slice of glistening, nostalgia-tinted indie-pop and is the lead single from her 10-track debut album that is set for a late-2024 release; Bryony's  first new music since her 2020 EP 'State I'm In'.

Originally inspired by the cult-classic film, The Virgin Suicides, Trip Me Up is a lyrical take on the romanticised heterosexual tropes found in those typical high school scenarios where the safety net of the prom party is met with the heartbreak happening on the football by the bleachers. I feel like Trip Me Up is a modern twist on all of that narrative and through a female lens which shows the frustrations and confusion that young love can encounter and endure, whilst simultaneously taking us on a journey of reclaiming a sense of self and power in this storyline.
