Scuba @ Awakenings Festival 2015 Day One

Acclaimed Italian house producer Simoncino is back with another full length album, Amazon Atlantis, this time on one of his regular label homes, Creme Organization. The LP lands on double vinyl and limited cassette tape in September 2015.
Known for his real passion for collecting and playing authentic analogue gear and his ability to craft dream like soundscapes and mystical house atmospheres, Simoncino has released a huge and high quality amount of EPs and LPs on labels like this one as well as Mathematics, LIES and Thug Records. His vintage sound is one full of real emotion, and that is the case with this new full length.
Simoncio turns on his machines and makes music every day, just for pleasure. Every so often he feels the time is right to release a new collection of material, and that time is now. There is no objective or particular message behind the album, it was simply conjured up using the Akai S 900 and the Emu Emax I drum machines as well as a Roland JX8P, a Korg PolySix a Ensoniq ESQ1 and a Yamaha DX7.
Made at different times over an extended period of time in his home studio in Perugia, Italy, the album features two collaborations. The first is with Legowelt, “who besides being one of my favourite artists is a close friend” and the other is with Vincent Floyd, “a true legend whose records ‘Cruising and ‘I Dream You’ have left their mark on my life.”
This album starts with deep and gurgling house beats and chilly hi hats and unfolds though more jacking, acid flecked tracks like ‘In Viaggio’. Always full of spaced out moods and cosmic signifiers, ‘Nagano’ is a ever more pressurised cut, whilst ‘90s Theme’ features plenty of classic break beats and old school sounds.
Meanwhile, ’Space Tape’ gets all raw and rugged with its clever use of lo-fi effects, ‘Akai Afro’ is full of the sort of African chants and earthy beats you would expect and the two collaborations are both standout cuts. With Legowelt, Simoncino ups the tempo and offers a real spacey techno vibe, and with Vincent Floyd he lays down some killer melodies and introspective moods.
This is a complete album that takes you on a roller coaster ride through myriad different moods and grooves, always with an authentic sense of atmosphere and real sense of purpose.

We stay in Italy this week, as Robert Crash joins the parade of misfits that is Creme Organization with this non redemptive but well balanced  contemplative genre piece, fusing classic house tropes with scraps found on the gold paved streets of Artisan inflight magazine fantasies. All of it done with an unhealthy dose of wide eyed optimism. Oeltimate is the word!

After a first EP from BNJMN, new Creme Organization label off shoot Jericho One now serves up a second release, this time from NOFACE. This is a moniker of Mella Dee, a producer who in the last few years has released rough house tracks on labels like Lobster Boy, Digital Soundboy and Omena. Here he offers three new pieces that show a passion for high energy, lo­fi tracks with inventive grooves.
‘Saturate’ is littered with old school signifiers but is essential a brutal, high power techno banger with immovable kick drums, slithering percussive patterns and fiery vocal ad libs that imbue the track with a sense of afro­futurism. ‘Polar’ is a similarly physical track with massive, monstrous kicks, reverberating synth lines and a barreling sense of groove that washes over you like a braking wave. Finally, ‘Warrior Charge’ is another physical and functional cut with robust drums, oversized hi hats and woodpecker like hook that demands you stomp and head bang from start to finish.

Creme Organization's Jericho One label continues to set a fine agenda with its fifth EP, this time from DJ Plant Texture aka Dona Basile, who also releases as Dona and Given. This is only his second EP under this alias, and is one that again marries breakbeats, techno and electro into electrifying new forms. 

Things kick off with 'Maybe Sometimes', three minutes of brutal old school rave. 'Maybe Sometimes (2_3 Psymono Mix)' is then a heavily filtered and stripped back version of the same tune that is brilliantly weird and otherworldly. 'Lello From SDA' then picks up the pace once more with reversed stabs, slamming drums and rubbery bass all cut up with yelping vocals and dusty breaks that take you right back to the early 90s. 

On the flip, 'Gargantuans' is on a deeper and more trippy old school flex with bright pads and gurgling bass taking you higher, then 'Cyclone (Tribute To The 90's)' is just that with its frenzied drums, filters and euphoric breakdowns all run through with Street Fighter samples. 'D_One' then ends the trip with a bit of ambient electronics, with odd sine waves and sharp sound designs placing you in an unhinged world.

The Jericho One project (also know round the office as Ground Zero) was called into existence to expand the bandwidth of Creme Organization with a different aestethic into a more ominous, techno, breakbeat, bass and dare we say "bigroom" oriented area without diluting the already overcrowded bunks of the Mothership any further. This is not an extension of R-Zone, there is no anonimity, even though there might be an overlap in sounds somewhere. This is no Throwback or Rave revivalism either. We aim to be firmly rooted in the now, with modern and up to date productions. But even then there is no escaping Electronic music's staggering heritage. We don't pretend to be original, instead we live in a world of combinations, re-interpretations ands re- imaginings. And at the risk of offending Extreme Noise Terror: We're only in it for the music. So if that's your thing, you are more than welcome to join us on another adventure.
