Following the success of Mildlife's 'Phase', Research brings you an all-star cast delivering their take on their pick from Mildlife's debut album released early 2018 via Research Records. 

Melbourne-Berlin transplant, master producer Tornado Wallace kicks off the EP with his take on 'The Magnificent Moon'. Wallace delivers a stripped back, break infused cruiser, mutating Kevin McDowell's vocals into an unknown alien tongue whilst staying true to the originals infectious melodies. 

Joining Wallace on the A side is Melbourne's own, Butter Sessions label-bosses, beat makers and party starters, Sleep D.The duo takes you on uncharted odyssey through their version of 'Im Blau'. Psychedelic swells lurk under dubbed out chords, cosmic fragments of the original are revealed before a bounty of bongos and congas take over! 

On the flipside Swedish disco-house rockers Mount Liberation Unlimited turn 'The Gloves Don't Bite' on its head with an extended 12-minute take! A re-imagined bass line mixed with quirky Swedish vocals, and their signature drum freak-outs makes for a memorable ending to this diverse EP.

Alexander Robotnick – The Four Seasons
It’s high time for seasoned Alexander Robotnick to tackle an Italian classic: The Four Seasons ….before seasons are definitely wiped out by the dramatically famous climate change. We grew up with a sort of mantra that went: “Seasons are no longer the same…” , a mantra that existed even before we were born. But Winter is still Winter and Robotnick’s desire has always been that of a Winterless year. The Four Seasons represents a sort of wishful thinking (by contrast).
Four ultra classic titles : Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. All of these tracks (apart from Winter) share the same origin: : they are born out of three very fast arpeggioes (32mi) where the note sequence is so quick it almost sounds like a continuous chord.
Impressionist music , without any real theme (except for Fall). Deep House that never falls into style clichés . No parallel harmonies, no one key chords, but a seamless flow that opens into modal scales and finally chill-out listening . Only in Fall the arpeggio sometimes tends to reveal itself , grows frenzied and introduces a somewhat
melancholic theme.
Fall has always been an intense and creative time for Robotnick , animated by a powerful energy flow, probably
to exorcise Winter which is looming on the horizon. In Winter the arpeggio is replaced by a sample from Wagner’s Master Singers that creates a music background with a meditative pace despite the pressing rhythmics.

There should be a new name for Norwegian balearica as they are hitting the sweet spot every time. This EP is no exception, with its retro analogue sounds touching on Ibiza, Italo, soundtrack and all the good stuff.

The Telemark Express is a collaboration between Norway's Kjetil Lagesen aka Kellini, an up and coming disco producer and familiar name on the Nordic scene, Jarle Bråthen. Periodically they both have 'writer's block' but when they hit the studio together, these obstacles fade away and the magic emerges.

Epic Proportions starts things off at a pace with its bubbling arpeggiator, congas and 4/4 beat that build, before the epic synths takes things to space disco heaven.

Inflatable Ego goes full balearic with its reggae lilt, stringless flanged bass and selection of analogue synths. Close your eyes and it could be 1986 in Amnesia as Alfredo drops that dubbed out Demis Roussos B-side everyone's been banging on about.

The title track goes deep with a nagging synth and swells that lay underneath Vangelis like synths as they pick out their melody.

Bright Future keeps the squelchy bass with uplifting chords to send the sun down in to the Med as you move on to your third Long Island Ice Tea.

The tall build overlooked the city with an overbearing sense of presence. The people who walked upon the streets beneath the towering beast were undermined and overwhelmed by its existence. It cast a shadow into the core of their homes and their lives. Within the confines of the luxury suites and the sprawling penthouses the rich would dine and play, happy in the carefree sense of disregard which was afforded to them by the four walls. Out there on the streets it was tough, a stark contrast to another life. 

Shelter On Wax is set to release a new EP called "Oranienstrasse" on Lagaffe Tales. The Berlin based producer offers great promise and we were also startlingly impressed by the Gnork remix which is lush, elegant house music at its finest.

Berlin / Amsterdam production duo “Horsemen” are joined for their second outing on BBC by their Norwegian protégé Henrik Villard with a stunning re-interpretation of one of the Eps stand out tracks.

Following their first EP, this new record offers a deeper look into the minds of Horsemen, an exploration on a few differing themes. Something that Horsemen's music is all about – telling a story. Each track is connected to something real.

This record charts a path through thoroughly modern Deep House, skippy hats and groovy basslines drive the record on, whilst their flair for the lyrical touches and the musicality of We Found a Piano and its jackin remix round out another stellar offering.

Maudlin People: "tearfully sentimental people". A new EP by Horsemen.

We start of with “Lucid Drinks”, a vague intoxicated memory of a night out, that illustrates a relationship between the main character's ego and true self, standing in front of the mirror trying to figure out how to take the girl home "the voices, banging drums, and lucid chords fill his heart".

We move on to "Feel Me", fireworks in the making. This track is the one big bundle of joy, overcoming the fear, stepping out and over. Walking forward and proudly look back one more time.

“We Found a Piano” is sensitive a expression of emotion, a feeling of "being completely broken". The piano in the track is from a field recording we made at one of our gigs on this old rusty broken-ish piano. The track carries a feeling of ease and content.

Topping it all comes a reinterpretation of “We Found Piano” from none other than Henrik Villard from Oslo. The young, talented producer from Norway recently released on Horsemen's label (TWO FIVE SIX) and dear god what a tune he has put together for this remix, such a vibe! Henrik really has that "oh I know that sound, that is....." Yes that is Henrik.
