This is a song, a metaphor, about the danger fed to society by too consuming much Internet, in all of its forms.  Don't walk into the muddy waters too deep.

It started on a very cold night; uptight. 
Her friend said that she's ok, just so tired.
Things went awry online, in a short space of time, 
senseless reasons that she took her own life.

There was this guy who was ok, mentally.
Before the the Internet took him away,
now most people he knows don't want to hear what he knows,
this is how it goes, unfortunately.

Muddy waters.
You take your chances.

Big tech guru watching the harm his invention has on society.
Yet he forges on, fanning the flames, 
making it worse instead of better; indifferent to the pain,
anything to make some gains. 

Solo.

It can be a dangerous water that we don't want to swim in.   
If you step in, you can't see who will bite back.
Each drown out the next until you can't hear a thing.  
All it takes is for you to believe their spin.

Muddy waters.

This song began all the way back when Manuel was 16 and found love that summer with a girl named Carmen. He remembered her, though, and wrote this song about her all these years later. The title of the song means "Your name has the song," and the lyrics spell out the girl's charms using the letters of her name. Check out the lyrics and the translation below. 
  Using that inspiration, Manuel came up with the song structure and the vocal melodies to a rudimentary drum track with his electric guitar. He then asked Josh if the group would be interested in taking it on. Josh, never being one to refuse a challenging piece of music, and always on the lookout for interesting musicians with whom to collaborate, accepted his kind offer and created a project for the rest of the Eclectic Collecitve to join. He started the whole thing off by adding his bass, to which Ken added his innovative drums, to which Josh redid his bass, as is the typical process in the EC.
  Next up was JJ, who you'd think he'd grown up with Spanish music the way he added the horns, accordion, and piano. Then Stephen stepped in and added his psychedelic and intricate acoustic guitar to the stew. 
  It was all done, except for the mix at this point. Manuel did the honors, and did it very expertly. Stephen mastered it to give it more volume and dynamism, too, as he always does. 
  This was the first, but we hope not the last, time the EC has collaborated with Manuel, although we're all fans of the incredible music on his page. He was a true delight to work with, giving honest, encouraging feedback and helping us shape his song to meet his vision. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

This was written over 10 years ago as a George Formby style (Google the name if you’ve never heard of him) ukulele song - a mildly amusing message to Gal to let him know that I was fully aware of the mental health difficulties he was having and that I would always be there if he needed me.

Over the years, we spoke often about the song but nothing much came of it until Gal suggested slowing the tempo and giving it a kind of shuffle beat. As it was about him, I thought he should definitely sing the lead vocal, which I think works rather well. (*Vocalist’s note: It would help if I could still sing…)

You’ll find many personal references to Gal’s life in the lyrics. At the time it was written, he was 63, literally a fatal age for men in the extended Reeves family and he wasn’t having the best of times himself, still wrestling with the grief of a marriage break-up alongside the loss of his big brother and closest friend less than a year before. But even with all of this going on (and not always out of choice) he found there were plenty more mountains to climb.

The transition of the tune from Formby to Albers is a story in itself but suffice it to say that Hans somehow managed to transform it into this rather poignant opus.  He has also made a beautiful film to accompany the piece (see link above). All in all, it testifies perfectly to the reason why Gal’s cleats are somewhat care-worn...and he still has many mountains yet to climb.. (Terry Reeves)

We Were Just Two Friends

This is a song I created with the help of a kickass instrumental by Madatracker. It is based on a little known incident in the eastern part of the world where there were body piles that were notorious for having live victims hiding under the deceased in order to attempt to survive.  Unfortunately the men wielding the weapons were very patient and thorough, although a few did pull it off and are still here today trying to forget the Hell they went through to be able to go back home to see their families again. I will speak for those that did pull it off and say, that was both a very large and very small price to pay to earn the ability to make it home to see loved ones again. Also those that have the knowledge and are still here today will never forget the sacrifice of those courageous men and women that paid the ultimate price that made it possible for the few to survive.
I hope you listen and I hope you enjoy, even though it is difficult to make a song like this entertaining in any way. My hope is that after reading the inspiration for the song you will then hear the lyrics and it will make more sense.

Hi, I'm Jess Johnson.  
I am on a quest to find my genre.  I have tried to sing different genres like country,  folk,  metal,  alternative rock,  hard rock... but since i write my own songs I'm usually at a loss as to what genre they should be labeled with.  I don't make beats or play an instrument, I find a beat or instrumental that i like and i write a song or just sing whatever comes to mind, to conform to the instrumental.
