Hailed by music critic Michael Sherwin as “one of the finest artists I’ve ever heard, possessing a blend of passion, expression, flawless intonation, assertiveness, suavity, and beauty of tone”, 23- year-old Japanese Cellist Eru Matsumoto has been charming international audiences with her unparalleled artistry and grace since age 6. As a multi- faceted and award-winning soloist and
principal with numerous orchestras, Ms. Matsumoto has traveled extensively, regularly performing in celebrated venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. She has also dazzled audiences on television in Japan and the US on a variety of broadcasts, in addition to being featured in a highly regarded HBO project as a young prodigy at age 12.
!At age 16, Ms. Matsumoto was accepted to the Juilliard School under the tutelage of the late David Soyer, widely considered to be the foremost master of cello pedagogy and a distinguished pupil of the legendary Pablo Casals. Upon graduation, her career path has included major performances and recording sessions internationally, working with British and Hollywood Academy-Award winners. She’s also collaborated with major pop recording artists in both Japan and the US., and contributed the theme music for Sony’s popular video game series, Everquest. In 2014 she appeared as guest soloist with the New York City Ballet and made her returning appearance to Carnegie Hall.
!Earlier this summer, Ms. Matsumoto was invited to be a guest of honor at the largest anime convention in the world, the Anime Expo, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. She then attended the prestigious International Chopin Festival in Warsaw and will be appearing as the featured Japanese performer in a TV documentary of this event later this season. Future engagements for the fall include invitations from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Boston Symphony Hall.
!She recently made her PRC debut in Fall 2014 as guest soloist with the Shanghai Philharmonic in a concert inspired by the country slogan “The Chinese Dream”, in which she was invited as a foreign friendship ambassador starring in the world premiere of Chinese composer Peng-Peng Gong’s historical Rejuvenation Symphony – the largest classical symphony in Chinese history.
!Concert line up starting in 2015 kicks off with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Hawaii Symphony, and “The Masterpiece” and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

This is where JHMJams started! I took music technology classes at Juilliard, and for the class projects we produced tracks such as the ones you see here. Creating these sparked my new-found passion for music production and collaborating with the amazing musicians that I had met at school.
This production didn’t have a name, so I jokingly named it after our apartment Wi-Fi “Juilliard House Mafia” (hence the ‘JHM’) that my roommate had named in honor of the musical group Swedish House Mafia. I started making short casual covers on Instagram (and eventually YouTube) to try to promote these fully produced tracks that I had created here. Hope you enjoy :)

Composer, Sayo Kosugi is the recipient of the 2014 Palmer Dixon Prize for Most Outstanding Composition presented by The Juilliard School in New York. Recently composing music for "Vocarion" at Toho Theater that will be premiered this summer. She has also worked with Royal Flanders Ballet (Belgium), Royal Academy of Dance(UK), Violinist Ryu Goto with Asia-America New Music Institute(USA,Japan,Korea,China,Thailand etc), and has been commissioned new works by many music festivals and orchestra, ensembles all over the world.
