El sencillo alcanzó el puesto doce en la lista estadounidense Billboard Hot 100. En 2004, fue votada como la número 190 por los representantes de la industria de la música y prensa en la revista Rolling Stone como parte de Las 500 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos. También ha sido versionada por Roger Waters, U2, Bon Jovi, Grateful Dead, Lana del Rey, Antony and the Johnsons, Avril Lavigne,3​ Eric Clapton, Luis Eduardo Aute, entre otros. Esta canción también fue versionada e incluida por la banda de hard rock Guns N' Roses en el álbum Use Your Illusion II.

My recording of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin's song, It is my intention to leave it as an "unplugged" version, rather than working to add in other instruments. The vocals are mine... as is the piano, done in one take... 

Tiny Dancer. It came out in 1971 on the album Madman Across The Water. 

When it was released as a single, it didn't do very well. The radio version was cut down from over 6 minutes long to about 3 and 1/2 minutes. It now enjoys a lot more popularity than when it was first released and is one of the more requested songs of Sir Elton John.
