In the five (five!) years since his cracking debut LP System dropped, the type of music Linkwood excelled at - a meld of sun-kissed house and loping LA funkiness - has become widespread, and perhaps even played out. So the decision to furrow a different path on forthcoming sophomore Expressions (due next week on Firecracker) makes perfect sense.
That being said, the warm tones prove hard to shake, and the precision of craft never truly goes away. What begins as straight techno chugger in the vein of The Field circa '07 gradually emerges from its tunnel into bright daylight. It's a coy move, us premiering this one: "Object" is a bridge. But coming from, and going to where? We've waited half a decade - one week more won't hurt.

Vocally driven, with a little nibble of the guitars and a lonely trumpet somewhere in the distance, David Marston & Dan Izco remix of Fork In the Path by Life on Planets is a beautiful tune. Taking you from everyday life into somewhere else. Finally driving the thing home with a apex of drums, piano and some pads, this song is quite something.

Paxton Fettel - She's All Right (Jimpster Remix) 128 Preview Clip

Three artists riding high off career-peak years combining for some darkly alluring techno? Yes please. Well, Clockwork and Avatism’s pairing isn’t strictly new, but they’ve been picking up a considerable head of steam under the CW/A moniker in recent months – including a booking at perhaps the last Fabric NYE of the pre-sniffer, pre-breathalyser era – and this release is their largest statement to date.  

We could have plumped for a typically unblinking edit from Lucy, but pulled Ilian Tape don Dario Zenker’s remix out the bag instead. He flattens the landscape of the title track, shelling claps down like pintacks to keep the pace choppy and brisk. It’s a good’un, and it sees release on Parachute Records next month.

When Ta-ku recently came out to LA we had the chance to finally meet and connect after years of pure digital connection. Ta-ku by far is an individual (beyond just an artist) who we respect so much as a person aside of his great talents as a musician. In fact, Ta-ku is someone that has pure role model characteristics. Earlier this week, Ta-ku pointed out that we just reached 10K LIKES on our Facebook page and mentioned how he had started on this track that was dedicated to a man named Trey who recently passed away from cancer. Trey was a true Ta-ku and Soulection supporter and in response Ta-ku created this track. So with this story in mind, this one is for Trey! Shouts to Trey, his family, and friends! Jimpster: The UK House craftsman shaping soundscapes with soul and subtlety

If you’ve ever lost yourself in the smooth, rolling rhythms of deep house, you’ve probably had Jimpster to thank without even knowing it.  Behind the decks, in the studio, or even just in the groove of his own life, Jimpster—aka Jamie Odell—is one of the quiet yet crucial architects of the genre, a producer who’s somehow managed to keep his sound fresh while paying homage to house music’s roots.  With releases stretching back to the early 90's, Jimpster’s sonic journey has evolved from the cut n paste, sample-heavy bedroom productions of his early releases to the deep house anthems he’s known for today.  He’s the artist who’s mastered the art of organic warmth, blending digital precision with analog textures in ways that sound both timeless and ahead of their time.  His music often draws from a deep well of influences: jazz, funk, soul, electro and even ambient textures—but it’s always tethered to the dancefloor.  He’s the kind of producer who can make a sub-bass rumble feel like a heartbeat while surrounding it with lush, atmospheric synths and intricate percussion that push his tracks into a hypnotic, almost meditative space.

Jimpster's discography is packed with both original tracks and remixes that make you move without even realising it: there’s the spaced-out, trippy disco allure of “English Rose”, the groove-heavy slo-mo swagger of “The Sun Comes Up” (which is basically the soundtrack to *that* sunset), and let’s not forget the timeless “Dangly Panther.”  Each track feels like a wave—a smooth ride that pulls you along effortlessly but leaves you wanting more. As co-founder and A&R of Freerange, Delusions Of Grandeur and most recently Cyphon Recordings, he’s helped nurture an entire generation of producers, sharing his deep understanding of groove and sound design with those who came after him.  Despite his three decades in the business and pivotal role in shaping the electronic music landscape, Jimpster remains relentlessly focused on who, or what, will come next, as excited as ever by discovering the freshest new talent and sounds to expose to the world.
