With Assembler, his second full-length album, Yen Tech re emerges in ecstatic and primordial new form -- a multi-layered and interwoven work that blends futuristic production, meta-science fiction, and anthropic critique into a dizzying array of next scenarios -- a maze-like vision of our technological and exponentially oracular, full-stack future.

This imagined future becomes a construct or place in itself; one in which the record buzzes and swarms; a mechanosphere of towering melodic vocal samples and sound design - all narrated by Yen Tech's unnerving, diaristic vocals - as he channels the form of post-human techno cretin, whispering hyperbolic ASMR to no one in particular. We follow this character from one disorienting experience to the next as he recites a stream of indecipherable neologisms and hyper-descriptives, the existential residue seeping from every line. In the end though, a strange, uneasy beauty comes into focus; the metamorphic lyrics and musical euphorias revealing Assembler as a type of elegy: a wet glass reflection of the failures of what we are and were - and a jubilant celebration of what we may become.

"I imagined Assembler as a type of self imposed simulation, an invisible boundary that the narrator has to navigate out of to move forward. It was a way of looking at how we may carry the issues and failures of the past with us into the future. The psychological baggage of history, the guilt of geotrauma, the addictive melange of technology all become dealt with in this stage of acceptance and recovery. I wrote the album with this in mind, a process to find the slimy pearl of who we are" - Yen Tech

‘The Year My Voice Broke’ marks the debut ep by Gurambilbarra local @nateswan. Across his tracks, Nate displays a variety of textured sounds and field recording creating a cohesive and well-crafted project. The final two tracks include stellar remixes from Meanjin locals @lithetrax and @imitation_therapy, each going a vastly different direction.

The 23rd release of katharsis is the collaborative album “Brutal Nature” by label founder jjjacob and various other artists. The idea of the project, which has been in progress for several years, was to extend the artistry to a more conversational form than the classic introverted style of the electronic music composer. The album shaped itself through several exchanges of ideas and stems between jjjacob and the numerous artists of the project.

The final product of the collaborations has a common theme of finding solace in the darkness and brutality of nature. This could be exemplified by the deep melancholy infused with an inner peace of losing a loved one in the mourning song “Threnody” with Hajj, or in the overcoming and healing of both internal and external wounds by the catharsis of music and art on the eloquent track “Trauma” with Bungalovv and Odete. As an introduction to the album, jjjacob and the local Beham created an auditory interpretation of self-blame with movie samples and abrasive low-end explosions, and to conclude it jjjacob and Slikback created the bass-heavy club lullaby “Bonum Nocte”.

The album follows jjjacob's previous two EPs on katharsis from last year, “Journey Before Destination” and “Internal Presence”, but it is his first full-length album since “Body Without Organs” released on the Spanish label Sweat Taste in 2020. The album artwork is a collabora

L’album « Je pense à vous tout le temps » de Paul Manandise se présente comme une œuvre profondément intime et engagée, dédiée aux villes occupées d’Ukraine et à leurs habitants. À travers cet album, l’artiste ne chante pas seulement : il récite ses propres poèmes, écrits dans une langue sobre et émouvante, qui cherchent à donner une voix à ceux que la guerre réduit au silence.
Un hommage aux villes meurtries
Chaque poème est conçu comme une lettre poétique adressée à une ville occupée, qu’il s’agisse de Marioupol, Kherson, Melitopol ou d’autres cités marquées par la violence du conflit. Paul Manandise y exprime la douleur des habitants, l’absence, la peur, mais aussi la dignité et la force de résistance qui persistent malgré l’oppression.
Une atmosphère de recueillement
L’album adopte une forme minimaliste : la récitation poétique est accompagnée de musiques discrètes, presque méditatives, qui créent une atmosphère de recueillement. Cette sobriété renforce l’impact des mots, donnant à chaque vers une intensité particulière.
Poésie de la mémoire et de l’espérance
Au-delà de la description de la souffrance, l’album porte une dimension universelle : il s’agit d’un travail de mémoire et de témoignage, mais aussi d’un appel à l’espérance. Paul Manandise rappelle que, même dans l’ombre de l’occupation, demeurent la lumière de l’identité, le courage et l’humanité.
