I’m on guitar(s) Bass, & some synth. I explore music ...I make 
 a drum track , then lay bass groove over the drums , & the last is Guitar so I never know which direction the track is truly going until finished. Lately, I've been adding sampled vocals....but first, instead of a guitar riff or chord progression I prefer to not know & let the rhythm section guide my ear & creativity . ( Frank Zappa) used different rhythm session players live so depending what they played ; that dictated his improvisation which notes by ear to play.
