Sensual Stripping

I am trying to sell my Fender 12 String Acoustic, so here is a little something I arranged to hear an approximation of what it sounds like.I recorded it with a poor quality SM 58 microphone (actually meant for vocals) into Garageband. It does not have its own pick-up. I did not have the heart to do that to this nice guitar (Bridge mounted Pick-ups do not capture the 'real' sound coming from the sound-hole.)Even with a crappy mic you can here the guitars diversity as both a full rhythm sound and a lead tone. It is full yet still manages to cut through.

Some Details:
- Aesthetically: There are some cracks on the surface and If you are concerned with the appearance of a guitar, these cracks will factor in on yourdecision to buy it. Cracks are never pretty, however, they are not terribly 'bad' to the eye. You can come by and look at it if you want but I do not thing the cracks are seriously bad at all.

- Playability: As I said in the write up, it is possibly the easiest 12 string I have ever played. This is because I gavethe guitar a professional setup the strings are comfortably close, (exceptionally close for a 12 string), to the fret board. The neck is very straight as well. The cracks do not effect the structural integrity of the guitar. The other day I was talking to the owner of Surridges music here in town and he said that the thing with new 12 string guitars is that you never know what the neck will do after a couple years - this is why people try to sell their 12 strings a lot of the time. This 12 string, however, has had its time to set. The neck is as good arE bad as it will ever be. The cracks have done little-to-nothing to effect the playability of this guitar, and chancesare will not cause any further 'problems.' I have had the guitar for about 8 years and have not seen it get worse. In fact, I made it better. Fender made their 12 string necks very sturdy.

- Sound: This is where this guitar shines. Whether your playing without a pick-up or with one it sounds great. I bough tit and was impressed with the guitars natural sound. Then one day I put a sound-hole pick-up in it and was completely blown away, as were those in attendance. I have read guitar Luthiers who actually comment that cracks in a guitar enhance its sound because quality acoustic guitar sounds come from vibrations within the guitar. The argument is that the cracks facilitate desirable vibrations - maybe thats why aged guitars are sought after. Whether or not this is true, this guitar sounds great.

- Conclusion: If you are concerned about looks, a couple cracks will detour you but if you want good playability, sound, and assurance this guitar will stand up to years of play, this guitar way well be the one for you. I have a personal attachment to this guitar because I rescued it from a pawn shop, much like rescuing a puppy from the pound, and took it home, babied it, and nursed it back to health. It has still has the scars of its formal life but as far as performance goes.....it has more than enough. Is it worth $180? I would like to think it is worth more but it would be unrealistic of me to ask whats its worth and seeing how I do not play it very much anymore and it sits in my closet I am selling it to someone who will play it.Hope this analysis has helped and like I said come over and play it if you want.
