"Following on from co-­compiling one of 2012’s best received compilations ‘Into The Light: A Journey into Greek Electronic Music’, new Amsterdam based record label ‘Music From Memory’ sets sail with a compilation of lo-­‐fi beach funk and lazy synth jams from the Rhode Island keyboardist and ocean loving Leon Lowman.

As well as a devoted painter and surfer of the East Coast, the synthesizer loving Lowman privately released two albums “Syntheseas” (1980) and it’s follow up cassette only “Sound Horizon” (1982). Something of a homage to his love of the local seashore and the women he was trying to woo there, the albums also express Leon's pure love of the synthesizer sound and reflect his unique melodic wanderings.

With Leon's albums meeting little commercial success at the time of there release, both albums have in recent years become highly sought after. Along with previously unreleased material from the time, “Liquid Diamonds‘ highlights Leon Lowman's unique blend of low fi synth funk and surf ambience."

Joe has been releasing music on some of the best UK labels of the moment including EDSC and Is It Balearic? and now the man from Clandestino is back with the follow up to his last EP just in time for summer. Tropical Highway follows the same format with one deep house houser and two gorgeous balearic nodders.
"Always" leads the pack and is aimed at that 3am moment when you're parked in front of the speaker and living for the moment. Crisp reverbed percussion and a shuffling sub lay the foundations for keys that look towards Detroit. An old school sample helps build the track with strings and pads until the drop is reached and not a moment too soon, that kind of intensity can only be kept up for so long! Then it's back down to the business of getting stuck in.
"Elysium" has a side chained chorused pad, gentle percussive keys, strings, a trippy vocal sample and the only thing missing is the sound of the lapping sea. It weaves it's hypnotic magic as the synths and pads play counter melodies off each other sounding like a lost 90s Cafe Del Mar classic which is no bad thing in our book!
"Fireflies" carries on the same tip with filtered pads that are heavy on atmosphere as the bass moves around them. A stabby synth pushes the track along as the drums build and drop with the keys giving it that balearic hook.
So when you're watching the sun go down and enjoying the perfect Ibiza / Croatia / Thailand / Yorkshire (delete where appropriate) moment , the Tropical Highway EP will be the soundtrack!

Here comes the next big UK name on the German Toy Tonics label: PBR Streetgang. With past releases on Hot Creation, Wolf, 20/20 Vision and a DJ residency at WE LOVE in Ibiza the guys belong to the finest in UK techno funk. Now they joined the new German label that has been chosen by Beatport recently as "one of 10 visionary labels that will rise to prominence in 2015".

PBR Streetgang's  "Move on" - EP is the next step in the German vs. UK collaboration history on Toy Tonics. Luke Solomon, Whitesquare, Montel were the first Toy Tonics releases made by British names. PBR Streetgang come up with this 2 tracker that includes a bomb-remix by newcomer KIAN T. Sounding like Max Graef taking a few MDMA pills to much and getting lost in the vintage synth hell..

Everybody seems to love the new music that comes from Mexico currently.  At the same time there is a huge new wave of producers coming from Italy. Toy Tonics records released a few of these new  talents from both countries. 

Now: here comes the perfect mix: CONCRET. Two Italian dudes living in Mexico City. Well connected in both worlds. Doing parties in Mexico and in Milan.  Diego Escobar and Q - Pha. They both met  when playing in the Italian psychorock band YUT years ago. Later they produced music for Diego Escobar's art projects (Urban soundscapes in New York at 3rd Ward Gallery 2014). And now they produce raw house music. Their first release has been on Truth Underground records from Los Angeles. This is their first EP on Toy tonics. 

DON'T ABUSE IT - with its seductive spanish voice seems coming out from a Mexican Ghetto. Heavy 1990ies influenced house music. Could be played in a Rebolledo set as well as in Miguel Campbell's DJ sets.
HOTTIE is even more raw. Direct house music with a hypnotic groove and a solid bass line. Female groans and Escobar voice giving a tropical sexy vibe. Check the remixes by SHARAM JEY and MIJO!

Rune Lindbaek flagged up a remix of Molde by Those Norwegians that had never had an official release, but can now be found on '25 Years of Paper' - Part 2.

The original was part of their Kaminzky Park album that wrote the blueprint for the Norwegian 'space disco' sound that was to follow. It had out-there production, off kilter beats, wry humour and heavy groove.

The remix caries on where they left with Arctic funk and Scandi wonk.
