Inception

How can one attain immortality? Certainly not by conquering death at some point. To have to die is an inevitable part of being human. But nevertheless something of us can live on after we have died. Be it in our children or in our music or our lyrics. And an essential reason to publish my lyrics and my music on SoundCloud and other music portals is exactly that: To continue to be heard and read, even if I have been dead for a long time.

On one of my many tramp tours a French lady named Elain once took me with her. During the trip from Paris to Strasbourg she told me her life story and that she had decided, after more and more agonizing depressions, to put an end to her life. She implored me to accompany her, which I strongly rejected at the time. Rather, I desperately tried to convince her to continue her life. When we said goodbye in Strasbourg, she promised me not to hurt herself. 

A good thirty years later, I do not know what happened to her. In this song, I give free rein to my vision of what it could have been like if I had granted her wish for assisted dying. - A highly controversial theme- . I only give here my passionate pladoyer for accompanied and dignified dying.

I've seen them all around the world: Berlin, San Francisco, Paris, Rome, Sydney, anywhere…. They exist across all social classes and in all ages. They are surrounded by an impenetrable aura of deep loneliness, of being cut off from lovers, of being locked up in a labyrinth from which there is no escape. 

In their gaze lies a deep, unquenchable longing for fulfilment. And yet they cannot look and are never really be seen. 

They do not recognize each other, even though they are all inhabitants of an isle:
