Our beloved house producer, Hemi, arrives on Duro with 'Whispers'. He's been around for some time operating from Istanbul, Turkey, both as a DJ, producer, promoter or film maker. To follow the single we invited the mind behind Frank Music label, Johannes Albert. German DJ & producer resident from the notorious Berlin party hotspot Renate.

The opener is the original version, a cut fueled by forceful drums, a power-driven sinewy bass, mixed with a barrage of resonant percussions, a deep piano riff, and a contrast of distant, spectral vocals alongside wacky synthesizers. 

On the b side we have the remix made by Johannes Albert, a solid, electrifying and ethereal track. Dynamic drums accompanied by a shocker bass, liquid and centrifugal synthesizers and undulating pianos, a lightning bolt to the dance floor.

"I control Hyperspace" - quite the message by our first timer Jean Crémant. Please welcome the Hamburg resident with a fantastic piece of music. I'm not gonna lie, it's a total Italo banger. The arp bass is rolling, the drum machine rattles again and the synth is singing a sweet melody. Icing on the cake? The vocal in between. Jean produces music in different genres since the mid-90s and never intended to release any of that - maybe except some tracks during the glorious years of MySpace. After playing in several punk bands, he re-discovered his disco-fetish while listening to the CBS Radio. Fortunately his dad develops electronic instruments since the early 70s and equipped him with some of his rarely used gear. We can hear the bubbles poppin already. Jean, can we have two more bottles please? Santé!

Jean Crémant - Hyperspace (J.A. Re-Space-Mix)

Celebrating 10 years of inspirational road trips through musical landscapes, Last Gas Station aka La.Ga.Sta. invited some of their most beloved artists and producers, who have grown part of the LAGASTA family over the years, to cover one of their all time favourite tracks for the anniversary compilation. The outcome is a fusion of different decades and music styles, ranging from George Michael to Siouxsie, and from Pet Shop Boys over to The The and Blood Orange.

We have the pleasure of streaming the contribution of Luca Venezia, better known by most as Curses. As part of the Ombra International family, and maintaining a steady string of releases on Dischi Autunno, Wrong Era and Bordello A Parigi, Curses offers an ethereal take on his favourite The The song with his signature style and aesthetic.

As he makes his way down vibrant streets, the rays of light from lamps above smear in his direction as if singlehandedly powering his enthusiasm. His eyes fill with people of varying demeanours, yet he pulses at the gleeful unknowingness of what will happen as he proceeds towards his fate of joy, love and music. His surging excitement protects from the cold air of the dark winter as his only focus is warmth and light. His heart rushes at the thought of his friends eagerly awaiting his arrival in the pub down the road. Sometimes us lucky few realise just how lucky we are. 

What an absolute pleasure it is to ‘reintroduce’ Wolfram’s 'Automatic Dub', which is due a second edition re-release at the end of the month. The italo-inspired track was a hit in 2018, steeped in Moroder-esque synths, 80s nostalgia and non-stop-feel-good vibes. The re-release features two additional remixes from Rex The Dog and St. Petersburg producer Cable Toy who's Balearic-infused twist has you dreaming of Ibiza in the 90s.

Behind Alterleo, there comes Denis Leonovich, a television sound producer, an electronic music composer and a dj from Moscow, Russia. After releasing a handful of dancefloor-focused EPs (mostly on local label National Techno) at the dawn of the decade he developed his own trademark sound, which is based on finding points of intersection between psychedelic disco, Balearica, house and tribal rhythms. That showcased on recent Alterleo releases on XXX Records, Claremont 56 and Kinfolk. Most of Denis's tracks include sounds and melodies crafted by the producer on percussion and some of the small native instruments that form part of his growing collection of such items.

Recorded mostly as a live-jam, august 2019, « Il Sogno di Carmen » is the result of a solitary producer meeting a nomad musician. A brand new friendship. From there, the duo leads us to a spontaneous and fragile holiday story that yet manages to frame, with a sometimes mischievous accuracy, the current Genevan musical spirit : experimental, sincere, hybrid and hot.
“ I have no idea where this will lead us. But I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange. Deep into summer, most definitely. The season of torrid bodies, of slowed down movements; where melancholy creeps in the form of light and inconstant paragraphs, italian-style.
