John, this moment in the piece is very powerful.  There is rawness because, at first impression, there is a seemingly simplicity that evokes.  But I suspect it strikes me because of what preeeded this point.

From my previous comment onwards, the music opens itself with reward to me the listener, providing some sense of peace, but then transitions with urgency and apparent pain into a darkness, which as your title suggests, does not radiate colour.

This is the 3rd of the series of Playlists which include those works by which I would most like to be remembered. White Winter, Black Spring is a setting of texts by Robert Lowell for tenor, baritone and large ensemble. It was commissioned by the BBC for the Huddersfield Festival and first performed there by Martyn Hill, Henry Herford with the Lontano Ensemble conducted by Odaline de la Martinez. Faustus was another BBC commission for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales who premiered it under the baton of Jan Latham Koenig. Sinfonia was commissioned by the Sinfonia of Cambridge who performed it with the conductor Grant Llewellyn, but this BBC studio recording is by the City of London Sinfonia conducted by Richard Hickox.

This Custom Shop SG came to me very cheap because the headstock was broken. I spent the last two weeks stripping it down and reparing it. Put it back together yeasterday and played some bottleneck on it. I put her through two delay units, tiddling the knobs as I played!

Twilight is that magical and mysterious time between Dusk and Dawn or Sunrise and Sunset. The number of daylight hours depends on the latitude and time of year. Each pole has continuous daylight near its summer solstice. 

Twilight is noted by painted skies in soft glows of red and blue hues. Photographers refer to twilight as the "golden hour" to take photos.  The mystique of twilight has been a source of inspiration for scientists, philosophers, writers, and artists of all types since the dawn of time!
