Guitar parts performed on a Paul Reed Smith Hollowbody II with piezo, and an Ibanez Jem 7 VWH. The PRS is also fitted with a wireless Fishman Triple Play MIDI controller.   Guitar tones were accomplished with the UAD-2 ENGL Savage 120 emulation with Presonus and UAD-2 plugins.  Bass guitar was recorded with a Fender Jazz Bass with Bartolini Pickups through a Tech21 Sans Amp and an Origin Cali 76.

Keyboards were performed on an M-Audio Hammer 88 Controller.   Sound engines include UVI Synthony Ivory Steinway D, Orchestral Suite, UVI Falcon, KV331 Audio Synthmaster 1,  and Presonus Mai Tai.   Drum patches from Steven Slate Drums 5.5.   

Bass guitar was recorded with a Fender Jazz Bass with Bartolini Pickups through a Tech21 Sans Amp and an Origin Cali 76.

My first comprovisation of 2024, featuring drums by  Magnus Brandell / OddGrooves.  The ECM package was just what the doctor ordered for this piece.  

I think I would classify this as Jazz.  What do you think?
I wrote this and played guitars, guitar synth, keyboards, and bass.   The PRS Hollowbody II got all of the love this time.     Still favoring the Fender Jazz bass for bass parts.     I love how accurately the Fishman Triple Play tracks.   Layering synth textures with guitar parts brings an interesting dimension to the soundscape.   

The chord motion popped into my head on Christmas.   Other parts sort of just happened.   I suppose that this was my Christmas present from the universe.  I am happy to share it with you.  I hope that you have an opportunity to give it a spin.

"Grass" is an upbeat happy tune with a definite ECM vibe thanks to the drum stylings of Magnus Brandell.     I played guitars, guitar synth, bass, piano, and other keyboards as well as doing all of the engineering, production, and mastering.

Wet Present is a record label, wholly owned by John Kline, for "The Music Therapy Experiment." and "John Kline.." 

John P. Kline, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and multi-instrumentalist whose music spans classical, rock, jazz, and New Age. A lifelong admirer of classical composers and performers, Kline brings that sensibility into a catalogue that moves easily between heavy guitar work, improvisational passages, and ambient soundscapes.

He composes, performs, engineers, mixes, and masters his own recordings, shaping music that is eclectic yet deeply personal. His solo releases sit alongside his work under the name The Music Therapy Experiment (TMTE), a project built on collaborations with guest musicians while always centered on Kline’s compositions and recordings. A handful of tracks feature him alone, while others highlight the voices of collaborators, including Mark Christianson. The project’s name came from Kline’s own candid description of himself during a difficult time: “a music therapy experiment.”
