“Askya” is the opening track from 8 by Laxá & Heima Kvartett — a post-rock collective blending Icelandic string quartet textures with guitar, bass, drums, and organ.

Inspired by the volcanic landscape of Askja in Iceland’s highlands, this piece is dedicated to guitarist Jussi Siglarson. The composition unfolds in three movements:

I. Pizzicato strings and guitar introduce the volcanic landscape.

II. Contemplative layers of bass and strings lead into Jussi’s gentle guitar theme.

III. A reggae-inspired bassline and plucked strings drive urgency before the quartet returns, lifting the track to a cinematic close.

For fans of Sigur Rós, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mogwai, Balmorhea, Explosions in the Sky, Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds.

Finally released in 2007, this EP (excluding the 2 remixes of songs from 1991 album ‘Putting It About’) represents the aftermath of Beats Working’s 2001 Calm album - 4 songs employing epic sounds, big ballads etc. Until 2007 it was not decided whether or not to treat these songs as part of the still yet to be finished ‘Perspection’ album. EPs 'No More Tomorrows' & 'Unfinished Business' eventually amalgamated in the album (and remastered)'No More Unfinished Tomorrows'. Album 'Perspection' finally released end of 2021/beginning 2022.

John Ludi is a musician/singer-songwriter/cultural relic with a diverse and "arty" array of influences and lyrical interests who was "Indie" before the term even existed. Working outside of the music industry by choice has given Ludi the ability to release songs of a level of lyrical depth that are anathema to the current culture.  Ludi lives off-grid in a yurt in the woods of WI and finds the materialistic priorities of our civilization incredibly wrong and destructive.
