Créé en 2003 à Saint Pétersbourg, il est composé de 6 musiciens : Alexey Belkin (Алексей Белкин), Dmitry Shikhardin (Дмитрий Шихардин), Piotr Sergeev (Пётр Сергеев), Ioulia Usova (Юлия Усова), Timour Sigidin (Тимур Сигидин) et Alexey Skosyrev (Алексей Скосырев).

Sur certains clips et sur scène, ils sont souvent plus nombreux, mais les amis qui se joignent au groupe ne sont pas tous là pour jouer d'un instrument ou chanter : ils dansent, s'amusent, jouent des saynètes.

En concert, en plus de leurs instruments habituels (ce qui ressemble à un vieux gousli, divers instruments traditionnels, violons et grosse caisse), il utilisent aussi des guitares, basses, claviers, gaïta et batterie.

Sur scène ou sur leurs clips, ils sont généralement affublés d'improbables tenues "rurales". Leur musique endiablée est extrêmement dansante et leurs mises en scènes sont soignées, souvent amusantes et pleine d'auto-dérision.
Ils se produisent essentiellement en Russie, dans les anciens pays du bloc de l'Est et dans des festivals de musique folk ou ethniques.
Cette année (2018) on les a vu, entre autres, en Bulgarie, Lettonie, Estonie, et bien sûr en Russie.

.A group almost unknown in Western Europe, Otava Yo is one of the representatives of folk rock music in Russia. 

Created in 2003 in Saint Petersburg, it is composed of 6 musicians: Alexey Belkin (Алексей Белкин), Dmitry Shikhardin (Дмитрий Шихардин), Piotr Sergeev (Пётр Сергеев), Yulia Usova (Юлия Усова), Timour Sigidin (Тимур Сигидин) and Alexey Skosyrev (Алексей Скосырев). 

On some videos and on stage, there are often more of them, but not all the friends who join the group are there to play an instrument or sing: they dance, have fun, play skits. 

In concert, in addition to their usual instruments (which look like an old gousli, various traditional instruments, violins and bass drums), they also use guitars, basses, keyboards, gaïta and drums. 

On stage or on their videos, they are usually dressed in improbable &quot;rural"; outfits. Their wild music is extremely danceable and their productions are neat, often amusing and full of self-derision. 
They perform mainly in Russia, in the former Eastern Bloc countries and in folk or ethnic music festivals. 
This year (2018) we have seen them, among others, in Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, and of course in Russia. 

Otava Yo has produced 6 albums, a seventh released on October 20, 2018.
