Ten by Twelve is a Vermont-based duo consisting of Russell Horton (acoustic drums, e-drums, mbiras, wind instruments, percussion, sampled instruments, and voice) and Ricia Gordon (keyboards, drones, and small percussion). Their music draws from a variety of genres, including experimental, world fusion, ambient, modal jazz, minimalist classical, and post-rock. They are influenced by musical traditions that incorporate odd meters and eastern scales and modes. Pieces emerge from exploratory improvisation and are recorded live with stereo room mics in a small room with no over-dubbing and no loops. All instruments are considered to be equal, and the drums are up in the mix with everything else. The duo allows pieces to shift, dissolve, and reform, the way sounds unfold in the natural world, occurring without consensus, yet creating an inexplicable sense of wholeness and harmony. They endeavor to listen deeply, allowing what wants to be heard to come through. Occasionally they will repeat themes from pieces previously discovered in improvisation, but the result is always unique to each playing. Many of these musical journeys are as long as an hour, so we post them on Bandcamp under the same name (link below) where you can listen to them for free (none of our music is for sale). 
Ricia passed away a couple years ago, so the project of uploading many years of recordings is not moving forward any longer.
