when I was first introduced to the guitar it was from my roommate in the US Air Force at the old young age of 20. My roommate played the songs of Paul Simon. Later several months later when I finally got the first instrument I ever owned, a classic plastic string Guitar, I bought the songbook of Paul simon. Maybe one of the most famous books of songs possible for me. I worshipped and played so many of his songs until my fingers bled and finally led mo to an understanding of poetry and lyrics that influenced me I'd say more than any other artist in my life. You are so lucky to have seen him live. I was so lucky to have learned to love a guitar and be influenced by such a talent as he. This song has been covered by so many but for all the millions and millions of listens, nothing can replace the feeling of discovering this man's work at that time. I'm happy to see that you gave it a go. You are a great interpretor of so many songs, ...and really in my mind a poet yourself in Simon's vein

I went to see Paul Simon in the 3 arena in Dublin as part of his Gracelands tour and whilst the gig was amazing, the song of the night was this one and to me it just proves that all you need with a good song is a guitar and a voice and the lyrics are still so prevalent today as they were back when the song was first written.  Thank you Paul.

This is a 13-minute, three movement concertino (Vivace, Andante, Maestoso) for E-flat piccolo trumpet with timpani and strings (4, 3, 3, 2, 2). As the subtitle indicates, the mood of the music reflects a general sense of the human condition across the three movements: 
movement One "NOW: In a Fleeting Moment," (Vivace)
movement Two "THEN: We Must Never Forget (in memoriam)," (Andante)
movement three "AHEAD: A Climb Into a Hopeful Future." (Maestoso)
