Many of us work 9 to 5 day after day after day with so little to show for it. We just live for today, have shorter life spans and become a company man. Sometimes it's good to get away. Some get away from it permanently disillusioned by daily news and the voting machine. They find a magical land under a stadium of glittering stars. This song is about a man from Montauk who finds peace where silver waters fall on shades of green. Enjoy the "Company man".

This is a song I wrote in 2016, about overcoming negative self doubts when I was starting to write songs again after a break of about 20 years.  It’s a song of positivity and self encouragement to get on and do the things you want to before it’s too late, regardless of what stage of life you’re at. Got to work with Marc Freak @marcfreak on this one after he foolishly offered to, in a comment on a track of mine. I spent a bit of time in London in the late eighties. Boy George was king, the food was still mostly bland and there were a million different rules for dress depending on where you went. Funny how sometimes things can be so foreign and familiar at the same time. I have lots of thoughts but I won't bore you. Oh and the music. I knew most of the bands but it did change my perception a bit to hear them in context. Thanks so much Marc for the singing, melody, lyrics and maybe some context. ;)

What a joy it is to live in this modern world where one can reach part way around the globe to collaborate with a fellow musician whose work you admire. I've admired Dag Olav Hermundstad's music from the first time I listened. His music often calls one of my favorite albums to mind "Nilsson Sings Newman". The same sharp songwriting and wit combined with an unfailing pop sense. Although in Dag's case he contributes both.
