Regulars on Bolting Bits, Lagaffe Tales (run by Jónbjörn Finnbogason and Viktor Birgisson) have played a pivotal role in introducing us to some of the scene's most talented, up and coming artists like Felix Leifur, David & Hjalti, Moff & Tarkin, and Intr0beatz. This year, the duo has decided to revamp their original digital series called "TALES" and have chosen to familiarize us with yet another gifted producer: Beraber!

Hailing from Amsterdam, Beraber is set to release his Lagaffe debut titled Early Riser, which is a four-track EP that showcases his ability to craft simplistic, lush melodies with an array of memorable synth riffs. At the core of each of his songs lies a mesmerizing groove that gets introduced at the very start and subtly builds throughout its entirety - eventually reaching a point where you can't help but be overwhelmed with just how god damn catchy it is.

A perfect exemplification of his style can be seen in the title track from the EP. In the beginning, the listener is immediately drawn in by the original's sequenced, undulating synths that anchor the piece. From there, Beraber then tasks himself with growing the beat by working in soft pads, a far-out bassline, electric percussion, and jarring chords. Although each of these elements wouldn't pop-out by themselves, as one, they create a phenomenally textured atmosphere that will get your head bobbing in absolutely no time.

Athenian Aggelos Baltas has been producing music for more than a decade now, with his Fantastikoi Hxoi project gathering both local and international praise for its bold blend of disparate styles and influences, spanning a wide spectrum of psychedelic music. 

His Anatolian Weapons releases on Lurid Music have been played by open-minded, adventurous jockeys like Lena Willikens (who selected one of his tracks on her Dekmantel compilation) while his edits have been appreciated and hosted by labels like Fortuna Records. 2019 seems like a busy time for him with a well received album on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space, as well as a remix for Dark Entries and compilation tracks for Emotional Response and Crevette. Fresh from his U.S. tour he is ready for the next stint of European dates, without ever stop digging and producing music.

OK. Back to the Limited Series for the 8th edition. Disclaimer: Do not dance in high heels. Banoffee Pies Records welcome another collection of talent with this 4 track drum exploration on BPLS008.

Jad & The joins the label on the A1 with a slow mo meditation full of warm pads and a string of broken beats on “X-Treme Drum”. The A2 comes from Lehults head chef, Lucky Charmz, with a 150bpm drum and bass inspired electro cut. Rolling low subs with a UK feel. Something different.

The B side invites Sid Quirk, who recently featured on BP009 under other alias Keppel, this time with his 88bpm haunting original vocals, packed between dark percussions and twisted soundscapes on “B_F L_R”, on the Hessle feel. Closing up the release, the B2 welcomes back Filip Szostak to the fold, this time bringing a drum heavy breakbeat DJ Tool that closes proceedings with energy and a suited transition for shifting moods on the dance floor.

@Thugwidow lands on @CR_label with a four-track take on dark, skeletal d'nb and jungle cast far into a future age. 

Titled 'Automatic Rhythm', the release is first in the label's new digital-only series. Inspired in part, says the producer, by a move from the north of England to the south, the EP showcases the impact new environments and experiences have on musical experimentation.

Today we're premiering cut 'Blacklight', an anxious yet highly refined, technical track built with lashings of ambience, choice rhythmic shifts and serious dancefloor appeal.

"It's inspired by London, it feels so different to Manchester," says Thugwidow on the EP. "I feel so different now, I've changed completely I feel... maybe coincidentally."

There was a strange, mysterious object which floated in the dense night sky. It flashed an electric green, illuminous and weird amidst a backdrop of delicate stars. It left a lot to the imagination - what was inside? Who was in flight? Were these creatures from the great beyond? It had been a long time since they'd last seen a UFO around these parts, not since the hot and heavy summer nights of the sixties. Then again, who knew what they'd seen way back then in the days of old. It was but a blur to him, a psychedelic haven of rage and madness.

A little while back we featured a mix from the ever playful musician and producer Your Planet Is Next. A Scandinavian superhero of sorts who has come to save the day from snobby enthusiasts and those who take life too seriously. He appears on a new split EP for Warning Records with a track called "UFO".

Walking towards the podium his hands began to sweat with nervous anticipation, this was to be a prolific moment and he wished to capture every bitter second. Sirens roared in the air and crowds cheered with might and eager joy - they wanted to celebrate their newly crowned hero. In the distance he could hear the sound of helicopters hovering, security was tight around these parts. There was a lot to protect... Finally as he reached the stairs he began to truly appreciate the significance of this moment and all that it meant - he was the best. 

Conrad Pack is set to self release a new EP... Just when you thought dance music had little soul left and that business techno was all that remained. This one bangs and remains comfortably about as real as it gets.

Earlier this year Basic Rhythm (aka East Man, aka @hikteksound) released album ‘On The Threshold’ via @PlanetMuRecords. The neat 10-track outing explored the beauty in brutalism, and the colour in gloomy, angular rhythms – all written with DJs in mind.

Now, he’s back on the label with a banger of an EP which features this banger of a remix from Chi-Town footwork hero @RP_Boo. Across ‘2 Da Core’ Basic Rhythm supplies beats that are anything but basic as he weaves choice threads between hardcore, footwork and more. And on RP Boo’s ‘2 Da Core’ remix, the project’s title track is chopped into smithereens and rebuilt in the producer’s signature sonic palette. Which, if you didn’t know, means it's a hit in the making.
