Joni Clare is a performing vocalist, songwriter, and vocal coach. She also studies conscious control and physical misuse patterns currently in a teacher-training program at the Oregon Center of the Alexander Technique. She has been performing all her life, but professionally for seven years and teaching private voice lessons for two. She studied four years of music and voice along with two years of piano instruction while earning an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Singing away, she also emphasized experimental improvisation, composition, and vocal pedagogy. 

Clare has a strong, eclectic sound mixing original soul singing with classical and experimental training. She holds mature technical control and lets the unknown aspect of music carry her authentic, expressive lyrics. Philosophies of awareness and exploring the unknown cross over from her training in the Alexander Technique to create a balance between the mechanical and spiritual voice.
