A living legend is added to our REC series. Relive the memorable set of Steve Rachmad, the man with numerous aliases, including Sterac, recorded in our Room 01. As you would expect from the Dutch DJ and producer, his performance reflects more than two decades of clubbing and perfecting a sound that is often attributed to his adopted home of Detroit. ﻿

Two hours set of a languid ascension, filled with unsettling yet reassuring tracks all the way through. Add varied influences, some heavy groove, a big pinch of skill, and you get his trademark. There is no doubt why the artist has been performing for so many years, and this recording is further irrefutable evidence.

Capricorn born 1972, homebase Stockholm, Sweden. Performing Vinyl DJ sets, creating Audio / Music productions, and graphic works. Collected music from the late 70´s, thru Hip Hop, Electro, House, Techno and other similar styles. The early 80´s where filled with breakdancing and spraypainting everything that was possible around the Stockholm areas. Early musical influences are coming from USA & Germany. "Remember GrandMaster Flash, DJ Red Alert, African Bambaata and the Soul Sonic Force, BDP, Busy B, Soundmasters, Egyptian Lover, and how about Ice-T in "Reckless" by Chris The Glove Taylor (including one of the first great TR-808 and TB-303 programmings ever). That was some amazing stuff back then, and i will never forget when Kraftwerk released Man Machine and Computer world. Then we have Mantronix, Ultramagnetic MC´s, Whoodini, them where great times!". All this got Cari to start collecting equipment for his own recording studio. International and national releases have been made on; Drumcode and Truesoul records, Code Red, Corb, Proper NYC, Harthouse, FFRR, JakPot, LoopP and Plumphouse Records, Missile, Jericho, Influence, Tortured, and Electrix Records UK, Primevil, Svek, Planet Rhythm, Tronic music, Experimental NYC, Ohm Records / Telegram, Analog USA. Own label projects include; Djupt, Grundtakt, Trainspotters Nightmare, AudioMekanixc, Audio Pollution, KGB, Direkt, Kaun trax, SpiritFuel, toghether with Hybrid Productions as the main platform. In 1998 a legal twist started between Hybrid Productions and Awex INC owned POP group called "Hybrid", which resulted into a name change - thus the dot after the H in H. Productions.

RTL is a new project created by Retail (Silesia, PL). Retail is a second face of dnb artist Dethria, mainly focused on techno and technoish stuff. RTL was created as a platform for publishing his own productions which have accumulated quite a lot for over 15 years of activity. For the first fire he want to introduce you the Uncertainty Of Tomorrow EP [RTL001] which is a 4 track EP filling almost a full spectrum of different techno styles:

A1. Retail - "The Tale Of A Missing Pick" (hard and deep pumping track with atmosphere loops in the background, oldskool repating stabs and very techy clap and ride action.)
A2. Retail - "In The Dark Sidewalks" (offbeat industrial techno which is a tribute to the greatest artists of this genre back in a days who are practically now forgotten like Makaton, Regis, Groovskopa, British Murder Boys. Aggresive FM synth at the top and resonating strings.)
B1. Retail - "Production Level 303" (deep techno track with punchy kick, stabs, lot of overdriven TB303 and deep pads at the end that bring to mind old Joris Voorn)
B2. Retail - "Uncertainty Of Tomorrow" (the track crowning the whole EP is a hard techno with a bit of melodic and trancy touch. Atmospheric pads which went through almost the entire tune, strong kick and classic hihat action is more that you want expect.)

I've been mixing tunes for about 20+ years now. My love affair with dance music started at a ripe age of 10/11, Thanks to my sister who is 6 years older.She was clubbing in the early 90s and bringing home mix tapes that I would borrow out of her bedroom, with the likes of DJ Welly, Sasha....etc. Early Tunes that stand out - 2 Bad mice - Bombscare, Sonz of a loop de loop era - Far out, Zero B (Lockup)Hyper Go Go ,Pin Up Girls. To name a few Tunes/Groups.  Even before all that i remember watching MTV and Herbie Hancock playing "Rock it" with Grand Mixer DXT scratching. Top of the pops was reallygood in the early nineties also with Expansions "Elevate" ,Njoi, SL2 and Bizzare inc. I knew then that when i could afford I was going to own some turntables. Progressing through my teenage years my love of dance music was progressing also and i was listening to Slipmatt, DJ Producer and those helter skelter hardcore sounds, with the addition of Techno!!! - Joey Beltram, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Tanith, CJ Bolland, Colin Dale, Carl Cox. Starting my own clubbing days down Angels Burnley and other venues close to home all with great atmospheres and friendly people....i had some wicked nights, all the while still thinking of how i can afford some turntables and how to learn to mix. In amongst all of these nights/days clubbing mid to late teens i was introduced to some local talents who were like minded musically and playing house parties and other venues, here is where i could watch them mix live and try and take it all in. 1996/1997 is a time that really stands out, when a good friend took me to a small club in Morley Leeds The Afterdark, Saturdays were known as  "The Orbit"  The layout of the club, The Music, The Atmosphere, The people, The lighting and visuals were just like nothing i had experienced before and was locally unrivalled. Amazing how a club could have such a profound affect on a person/persons as a clubber and or wannabe DJ. Being able to watch these Monster Dj's  tear up a club and to observe nutters going hell for leather was probably the best 4/5 years of my clubbing days. Drawing inspiration from the Big DJ's and local friends/DJ's is when i invested in some 1210's and started to learn to mix, Again with help and guidance from The local talent..(Can't thank you enough).
