Mark Singerman is an acoustic singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California, and, yes, that is his real last name. Pretty “mark”-etable, eh? *wink wink* *nudge nudge* *lick lick*
 
-oops. Sorry about the licks. Moving on then.
 
For some reason, puberty struck a musical chord in Mark, and he began playing the guitar when he was the incredibly awkward age of 13, squeaky voice and all. He joined an alternative rock band during the Spring of his Junior year in high school, and dyed his hair all sorts of strange colors. After playing and touring with them for the next few years, he decided he wanted to take Opera lessons because he likes a challenge. Once he was able to channel the true spirit of Pavarotti, Mark decided he was comfortable enough as a singer to begin writing his own songs for the first time in the Winter of 2007.
 
Without formal guitar training, he found it very difficult to write entire songs out of thin air, but he knew he had something important to say, so he persevered until he wrote his very first song. One song turned into 2 songs, which turned into 3 and 4. This song writing continued on in the solace of Mark’s bedroom for the next 7 years unbeknownst to anyone else that he was a songwriter, even to himself. It became an obsession of great poignance to Mark, allowing him to find clarity and existential meaning in those horrifyingly nebulous conundrums of life.
 
After showing a couple close friends some of his most personal and heralded songs of great wisdom, Mark was urged, nay, begged by his comrades to release some of this glorious music. Unconvinced of their sincerity and overrun with personal insecurity, Mark humbly declined, but as he lay there in bed for the next many moons, pondering, as he often does, about the path he was meant to take (or maybe pave) with his music, he decided to record a video performance of a then new song of his titled “Time and Space” and upload it to his Facebook page. The response from friends, acquaintances, and even complete strangers was overwhelming for him; more than one fan of the song even admitting to their shedding of more than a few tears while listening. Several were pleading with Mark to make the song available for purchase and asked if he had any more songs they could buy! What was once humble insecurity was now downright selfishness, and so Mark decided to go full-force in the direction of his musical dreams, if not for him, then at the very least for others who might be touched in some way by the melodic telling of his greatest successes, failures, and revelations in life.
 
And so, here you have it: a singer-man singing and writing and performing to satiate the highest form of passion and meaning that exists on God’s green (but mostly blue) earth. Mark now humbly stands before you all renewed in his self-understanding, for the first time ever unafraid to proclaim atop the highest mountains: “I. am. an artist.” (…but thank God musical artistry is nothing like Highlander, otherwise he’d have to kill his most enamored musical influences!)
