Release Info: 
Pete Tong and Goom Gum join forces to deliver ‘Signal’… Pete Tong is a man who needs absolutely no introduction; recently awarded the Music Industry Trust Award in recognition of outstanding contribution, it’s fair to say he has been electronic music’s foremost global ambassador. So, it’s fitting he’s looked overseas, specifically Russia, on his latest collaboration to join forces with Goom Gum, a duo who are now at the vanguard of the country’s burgeoning dance scene.

Pete explains how the project came about, “I’d been a growing fan of Goom Gum and ended up signing their re-version of Depeche Modes’ ‘Master & Servant’ to TSZ Recordings, a new label I started in 2019. Just before the pandemic the guys sent me a rough sketch of ‘Signal’ and asked if I wanted to collaborate. After playing it out a few times and adding some ideas and arrangement changes, I dropped it in Tulum and the crowd went crazy, which I was grateful to experience because it was one of my last big shows before lockdown.”

“We’re delighted Pete came onboard for ‘Signal’”, Goom Gum continue, “His support of our work has been amazing, but to get to actually work together was beyond our wildest expectations. His experience and insight helped craft the track into a total dancefloor bomb. We’ve been road testing it at our gigs lately and, trust us, it works!”

But the track’s evolution doesn’t end there. Inspired by the Tulum party, Pete hit upon the idea of creating a version dedicated to the Mexican clubbing mecca at, of all places, a dinner party! “At my house in LA we had a Moroccan room and my wife used to throw these incredible soirées. One night we even had a belly dancer and an amazing percussionist called Marc El Khouri. I played him ‘Signal’ (he loved it) and asked him to record some authentic percussion and tabla sounds inspired by my DJ set - and the Tulum version was born!”, he exclaims.

The project’s global theme is enhanced further with remixes from Berlin’s Anja Schneider and another fast-rising Russian star, Bora Uzer. Anja displays real studio prowess by delivering two different remixes, the electronica inspired ‘Break The Signal’ alongside a wonderfully warm ‘Deep Code’ version, which returns to 4/4 and a sound redolent of clubbing in the German capital; whilst Bora’s mix injects a real dose of energy and emotion to further cement its peak time credentials.

“We’re so happy to finally release ‘Signal’”, Pete and Goom Gum conclude in unison, “we had nowhere to play it for 18 months so can’t wait to get it out there.”

Bengoa is a Greek DJ, musician, producer and songwriter based in Athens and Mykonos, Greece.

With influences rooted in ambient, techno, house, hip hop and trip hop, he’s built a unique but flexible style for himself over the years.

Let’s Try Again puts those iconic 808 drums upfront and adds in some floating chord stabs to create a timeless take on deep house.

With the En Route EP on Sublease, Bengoa treats us to scenes from the summer in Mykonos - where each of these tracks were recorded. With an original 808 on hand, the beats are tinged with some retro vibes and baked in the Aegean sunshine.

Lastly, Bodytalk features Brothers’ Vibe with a co-production credit. Tony Rodriguez aka Brothers’ Vibe - a legend of US house music - adds a distinct 80’s / 90’s take on Bengoa’s vibe, resulting in an absolute secret weapon in the right hands.

The Dompe remix is deeper still, yet brings in a touch of jacking drums, creating the after dark counterpoint to the original.

It depicts another story of bright morning rays streaming in to the windows of a cozy & inviting room, the aura surrounded by the presence of long lasting happiness after a passion fuelled connection of two souls becoming one. You can feel every drop of thought, quality & hear felt moment during every second of this intoxicating track. 

The sublime second remix is from the progressive mastermind Talamanca. The mere mention of this name springs to mind the combination of strong, warm & addictive summer chord work mixed with superbly delicate piano lines, electrifying chord progression & euphoric sun laden vocals. You can bet he brings this intimate release that touch of excitement, power & an addictive feeling of togetherness that you can't help but crave. Although we were reluctant to reinterpret a timeless deep-progressive ballad, we ultimately challenged veteran sensation Terry Da Libra and more recent recruit to our core roster, (the wonderful) A.M.R, to lend their talents to "Come Alive." The result is a gorgeous pair of renderings, which honor the spirit of the original composition, while also showcasing these two extraordinary remixers' distinctive compositional gifts.

2 of Irelands' most consistent producers this year have teamed up to deliver some genre-bending music. Heavily influenced in his earlier musical journey from classic 90s Trance and developing into his more current progressive sound Element 108 thought it would be cool to team with one of the trance scenes most in-demand producers at the moment Paul Denton.
The lads have delivered a high energy progressive trance track that we feel shows their influence from the classic trance sound and morphing it into something that can be accessible to many DJs across various spectrums of electronic music. This is not as easy thing to do and we feel that lads have nailed it with this one.
