One More Step

The title of this track is a reference to the wartime term "no quarter", which also means "take no prisoners". The 'blood' red flag is often used as a symbol of this horrible practice and, in fact, it is considered a war crime to refuse to spare the life of anybody - i.e. to refuse quarter. The term "No Quarter" prompted me to research the meaning, which is where the concept for the song title came from.

In the original 1999 version of this tune, the only instrument was the echo-y electric piano sound, which was influenced heavily by the song "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin. This is another tune I'd recommend listening to with headphones because of the heavy panning movement throughout.

Die SuiderKruis Wag Lankal Daar - The Southern Cross Is Waiting, is the last soundtrack and completes the collection of music looking at Southern Africa and its origins. The music is inspired by the song "Reispsalm" composed by Koos Kombuis. South African singer Laurika Rauch recorded the song in the early 2000's. The song speaks of where we come from and that Africa calls us back, no matter where we are. "We" in this context refers back to the many South Africans who left the country in search for safer life abroad. Many of us live in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. 

This last piece combines voice, synth sounds, guitar and sampling and has an ethereal quality which feels like a call itself. Enjoy the music and keep an eye out for more music coming ....
