Let me dance in the sun

It’s been 10 years since I released Psych Out The Silence on a limited run of 250 purple LPs

After my Indie folk band, BabyTwin disbanded. I decided to make music inspired by 
The artists I’d always loved since I was a child. Mostly those of the 1960’s psychedelic pop era.
I’d recently opened my own exclusively vinyl record shop in Shrewsbury “Cave Records” 
And I was finally sober after a trip to Barcelona’s Primavera Festival. 

These songs whilst very personal emotionally were some of the most positive and sunshine-filled
I’d ever written or produced. I’d only recently acquired a drum kit some 18 months previously. 
And was still teaching myself how to play. I recorded all the music myself in my modest but functional 
Home studio. As this was my first release under my own name rather than a Band or pseudonym. 
I wanted to give as much of myself to the music as was possible.

However, after being solely involved in the whole process and after listening to the songs  Ad Infinitum…
I chickened out at the last hurdle and got someone else to mix it. 

He suggested we re-record my drums in a little studio. I was very nervous as he was firstly a very good drummer 
And I was also working to the clock. I didn’t play as well as I could’ve.  
He then made a modern and to my tastes a less organic drum sound.
I was listening to Oranges and Lemons by XTC a lot at the time 
and some of those tracks were used as a reference. 

This remix is by no means a way of undermining anyone.

However, It’s always troubled me...

Recently I found all my multitracks with all my original drum takes that were recorded in the same room as everything else was. 
So I’ve mixed it how I initially intended it to sound, which is a slightly more Lo-Fi/Garage organic mix. 

 A limited run of 100 cassettes on 4 different coloured tape shell variants is coming soon.

So here it is my first solo album, 
recorded and mixed entirely by myself in my very modest but functional home studio
which in its first 10 years has drawn comparisons to
The Beatles, The Beach Boys, XTC, Elliott Smith, Pavement, Ween, 
The Apples In Stereo, The Olivia Tremor Control and The Lemon Twigs.
