Barbary Coast I (feat. Sergio Párraga)

Lilacs in the Dooryards by Northern Sky is a mellow jazz ballad about love, spring, and coming home again. It drifts through soft piano and gentle vocals, like sunlight through an open window. There’s a touch of nostalgia in every note — the kind that reminds you of quiet mornings, blooming lilacs, and the simple joy of being with someone you love.

For those who actually like Christmas songs and embrace the tinselly sounds of festive musical decoration - this is our latest unpolished effort to pin down those elusive melancholy chord/melody combinations and pair them with some hope-filled, wistfully-wry, winter-worthy words. For this song we invited a few friends to join in to offer a little seasonal warmth to the proceedings and it’s pretty close to a ‘live’ recording.

For those of you who absolutely loathe, cringe at, and are somewhat embarrassed by the festive ditty - you might be pleased to know that this one will definitely be the very last Christmas song we record (clue’s in the title).

We’re releasing it now as an early single and then in December it will be added to our ‘Don’t Mention It!’ alternative Christmas album as the 25th & final track.

Homage to the synth sounds of Depeche Mode 101, possibly my most listened-to album of all time. 

Synths are a mix of Sytrus plug-in (which has some really cool DX7 stuff) and then my Yamaha MODX. Guitar is a Schecter Solo II SLS Evil Twin through Amplitube.
