"Hot on the heels of their debut on Lobster Theremin, Sydney born and bred radio host, DJ/producer AK SPORTS readies five devastating cuts of distinct Nu-Sports club; finding their Higher Power - a new-age rave pairing formed from within a blazing ball of hell-fire.

Releases and remixes have followed on Dansu Discs, Mad Decent and CLUB GLOW (where they produced a collaborative EP with rising artist Kessler), and their Balamii radio show has welcomed guests from Dagga, Allan Fitzpatrick, Moktar, Mell G, Nova Cheq and Nikki Nair.

Inspired by the lack of female faces in a male-dominated scene, AK SPORTS has been at the forefront of a big-room, warehouse sound being championed in Australia (X CLUB, Mall Grab) that has been borrowing from the golden eras of trance and hardcore, whilst also catapulting that same energy straight into the dance through a contemporary lens.

‘West Coast’ tears itself into two forms - one a heavyweight 4x4 power mix, the other a ravey cut of breakbeat hardcore that melts across a scattered rhythm. ‘Une Amie’ floats like a killer-bee amongst swirls of synthy colours and patterns on a deep, driving and frenzied techno flow.

‘Eurostar’ is the soundtrack to what would happen if the high-speed, multi-national rail service was somewhere transported the a Mario Kart multiverse – a cut of trance-fused Euro-techno – before ‘Lockdown in the Big Smoke’ takes us on a melancholic trip into the dead of night on a killer techno-spooker."

Belgian artist & producer Kris Vanderheyden has been a tour de force on the electronic music landscape ever since careering onto the scene in the early 1990s.  A regular collaborator with CJ Bolland (co-writing the landmark ‘The 4th Sign’ album release, as well as on the huge singles ‘Sugar Is Sweeter’ and ‘The Prophet’) as well as remixing global stars Blondie and Janet Jackson, Vanderheyden has also been knocking out bona fide rave classics under the Insider moniker.

Having already fired out releases for esteemed imprints such as Cocoon many big Belgian techno labels over the last three decades, ‘Something Flash’ surprisingly Insider’s first release for R&S Records under this alias. And the wait is most definitely worth it, as a rollicking club banger is put together, as Insider bares his teeth for a fusion of slamming, kinetic techno and pumping dancefloor grooves delivered with punk attitude.

With his newest LP "Exxodus", Zurich’s Manuel Fischer returns to his home base Ozelot, presenting ten meticulously crafted tracks that refrain from ever only being one thing or the other. Sitting comfortably between genres like IDM, Dubstep, or Electro, Exxodus is a representation of Fischer’s current musical interests and a story of artistic progress. A story which, at its core, has always been about exploring new frontiers and finding new means of expression.

It only makes sense for Fischer to release "Exxodus" with Ozelot, the discipline-bending collective he co-founded in 2017: what started as a record label soon developed to become a creative studio working in a broad range of artistic disciplines. In line with this approach, the project presents itself in different ways, embracing all its transcendent potential: next to its physical manifestation as a transparent double vinyl, designed by Skala Design,Jahn Koutrios and Guillermo Lucena, it’s the foundation for Fischer’s new live AV show, for which Ozelot will conceptualize and create and execute the visuals. Coming to a town near you in Summer 2024. For the digital space, the studio imagined an experimental and playful way to access the music, using the album as malleable base material in an immersive website.
A familiar approach we’ve already seen for Ozelot’s latest release, the Skyline EP by Radiofear, and which is now established as an essential element of every new project, taking the convergence of the virtual and physical realm seriously.

"Exxodus" succeeds in being many things at once. Mainly, it’s a musically confident body of work and an adequate follow-up to Fischer’s first long player "Roadkill Grill in Novosibirsk" from 2019. Many of the elements he favors as a producer are in place: the Electro-informed groove on “Imperil”, a warped sample on “Rusty Chair” (is that a dog barking?), and shuffling granulated breaks everywhere you turn, like in “Rehbinder Effect” or “Parallel But Never Crossed”. Additionally, the scope of the project allows for it to be read as an act of collectivity, in which a group of creatives comes together to discover new artistic possibilities. Wrigen by Fischer, in his hometown Zurich and further South in Switzerland in the secluded Ticino region, he consequently extends an invitation to others to get involved. If this open-minded approach resonates, you are cordially invited to join the party.

B From E conveys his modern take on early techno and breakbeats spiked with trance elements on “The Year 8080” for his own, resurrected Buddahood imprint. 

Deep atmospheres, sharp melodies and uplifting energy are the main ingredients of the sound of B From E, the housier moniker of the danish producer and musician Frej Levin. With room for variety, he has created a playground in favour of trancey detours inspired by US techno and early European house music. The encounter between ghetto music and the mindset of finding altered states through an endless, timeless trance is what Frej invites us into - namely his buddha "hood".
