Dear Orphic, Float Records and HEDON,

First of all, I would like to show you my gratitude for the opportunity you’re giving upcoming, relatively unknown, artists (like me) with this contest. It shows you have the hearts in the right places. 

Secondly, the mix. The way I challenged myself is was in a three part way. As always, I tried to stay in the mix and really work behind my decks (I hope this translates well to the listener). Only then I can get a sense of fulfillment when I DJ. Moreover, where I personally challenged myself the most, was to refrain from the more hypnotic tracks I would play ‘normally’ and choose tracks that were ‘different’ but still that felt close to me as a person. Lastly, because my track selection differed from the usual, I utilized slightly dissimilar mixing techniques. Ones that give off a more old school ambience. 

That’s partly where the title “A Shift In Ambience” comes from. I tried shifting the ambience of sound, without feeling like it wasn’t me who was playing. I just transposed on my spectrum of musicality to a point where I felt it was suitable for the moment and my mood. 

Last but certainly not least, I truely was filled with enjoyment when recording this podcast and I couldn’t stop bumping my head around when playing these tracks. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

B 4ME is passionate about bringing a playful and colourful punchy musical flair in the selection of music he plays. This artist may be London born but this set shows that his Caribbean roots run deep.

Last summer, I had the chance to play a 4-hour set in a very special place. More than just a venue, it’s a vision, a beautiful project where music takes center stage. I’m so grateful to have been part of it, and this recording is my contribution to its magic.

That night, we collectively melted into the music (RIP to the liters of water sacrificed in the process). I started with smooth, dub-infused techno, slowly diving into hypnotic mental grooves before landing in groovy and tribal territory.

It's hard to emphasise just how integral Steve Bicknell's party (run alongside partner Sheree Rashit) LOST is to the story of techno here in the UK. They were the first to bring over pioneering talent from across the Atlantic with artists like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Basic Channel and Robert Hood all making their debut UK performances at LOST. Evidently, but not unsurprisingly, the party inspired the generation that came after them with LOST cited time and time again as a foundational experience and influence. 

Creating bespoke spaces, which were often hand built by Bicknell, with the team’s stripped back approach they delivered with the power of their soundsystem and housed ground breaking performances the like of which had never been seen before. The label Bicknell helms, Cosmic Records, is just as lovingly understated in its presentation and delivery. With a clear focus on quality of form rather than hype their output is as typically hypnotic and as engrossing as everything that was done under the LOST banner. It’s also the main vessel for Bicknell’s own productions. 

Here he’s recorded a brand new promo mix ahead of his return to Room Two in just over a week’s time (20th June). It was intended to be a snapshot of where he’s at musically right now, but – after listening to it - we’d prefer to call it a demonstration of the man’s magnetic and compelling approach to DJing.

Sciahri and his label Sublunar are proud to present the second chapter of the “Veil of Echoes” project, a continuation of a journey that connects emerging and established artists from the label.
Following the vision introduced in the first volume, this release unveils a new dimension of techno and electronic music, merging timeless roots with forward-thinking sound design.

The trip begins with “Voltages” by Cirkle, a sharp and direct cut built for the floor, followed by “Tides” by Red Rooms, an hypnotic journey driven by an entrancing vocal hook.
“Phonolith” by Border One brings a mental and groovy touch, while “Basic Instinct” by Hemka stands out for its captivating arrangement and refined sound design.
The first record closes with “Your Hands Forget Their Shapes” by Hadone, a truly memorable track destined to stand the test of time.

The second record opens with “The Radius” by Temudo, one of his most acclaimed digital tracks now available for the first time on vinyl, followed by “Etched” by Hurdslenk, a powerful and driving piece of precision techno.
Next comes “Nardo” by Pierre, a modern, groove-heavy weapon with a distinctive sound identity, and “Serpents” by Ketch & Alessio Landini, a hypnotic and tribal tool for any moment of the set.
Closing the journey, “Zone 0” by Danya delivers a mystical and immersive ending that transports the listener into another dimension.

With “Veil of Echoes II,” Sublunar presents a visionary collection that captures the essence of techno and electronic music, bridging its past influences with the sound of the future.

Lea Occhi is a French Techno DJ based in Berlin, co-founder and resident of the Spectrum in Paris.
Inspired by the Berliner culture and the LGBT community, Lea definitely know how to make the people dance. Her music always oscillates between rhythmic, groovy and hypnotic.
