Esta obra fue escrita para el pianista Juan María Solare para el Proyecto "15 minutes of fame" de Vox Novus, Nueva York, Usa y estrenada en el ciclo de "conciertos del mediodia" de la Unversidad de Bremen, Alemania el 15 de junio de 2012.

La voz del sur (The voice of the south) is a a tranquil, romantic, minimalistic tune for solo piano.
It is the fourth of the cycle " Himmelsrichtungen " (Cardinal Points), which are six piano pieces composed and performed by Juan María Solare (an Argentine pianist who lives in Germany).

The title Himmelsrichtungen, literally "directions of the sky", means actually "cardinal points". Usually they are four, but the composer added two (zenith and nadir), because they determine the third dimension: we are not more conceiving a bidimensional world, but a tridimensional one. This represents the overcoming, the generalization of the system (of any system). The cover art (by Alban Low, London) echoes this idea of three-dimensionality.

The musical language integrates tonality (more traditional pieces) and post-tonality (more experimental). This album, which can be filed under the genre contemporary classical (neo-classical), offers an accessible avant-garde sound with a transparent "melocentric" approach.

This work incarnates an apparent contradiction:

The musical genre "De profundis", derived from the Salm 130, is usually associated with religious thought. The instrument, electric guitar, is usually associated with atheistic or even demoniac ideologies related to rock and metal.

But there is no contradiction. An agnostic guitarist can be so disappointed with the world as to address any God from the depths of his soul. Those who are free of conflicts, go ahead and throw the first stone.

Solare unifies in his person -and his esthetic- diverse tensions: contemporary music and tango argentino, South and North, composition and performance... The stylistic elements of his musical Oeuvre include a tendency to aphoristic, a quote of unbribable melancholy, a dose of irony and humor (related to the surrealistic absurd), and an aspiration towards sublimity. Solare considers that art music and light music are not irreconcilable extremes, but poles in a force field, and moves himself comfortably between both points with a very personal "musical bilingualism". In Solare's Work, these differences can -may- coexist without contradictions.
