The 38th release of katharsis and our final release of 2023 is the prodigious compilation "Embracing Darkness, Absorbing Light" featuring a vast array of artist beloved by the label. Throughout the grandiose line-up of the 36 tracks, the listener is absorbed by various differing interpretations of the theme outlined in the title of the album. Some of the invited artist went full into introverted progressions and meditative sounds, while others focused on aggressive rhythms or anthemic melodies. But even though the styles and techniques of the songs differ from each other, the artists seem to have some commonality in their sonic palettes that binds it all together in a mutual love for music as a healing force of nature <3

The 40th release of katharsis is the EP “Life is Hard” by Malle Voss coming out on April 10th. Following up on his debut release “Death is Easy” on Blue Tapes from 2022, the artist expands his musical pilgrimage into pure and spiritual affection in chaotic and dark territory. By using emotion in a structural way, the 6 tracks portray deep truths of overcoming struggle and turning nonsense into meaning. The tracks work like dark botanical angel artifacts, each with its rituals and prayers of death motivation and enlightenment through hardship. The range of sentiments covers everything from both beauty and joy to aggression and ecstasy, in its messy-by-design style of maximalist minimalism.

At Her Open Door is an experimental music project started in 2007 by Japanese artist Taiki Kobayashi. He has previously released the album FLIR on CHINABOT and the EP Demon Stinger on formforum, and has participated in compilations for Magdalena's Apathy and Subsist Records.

when homophobic attacks are a daily thing in your hometown you have to grow a thicker skin, but it’s not enough. derealisation gets stronger while you’re working on your second LP “śpie”, you have to constantly tell yourself “I’m a human” as a form of self-therapy and this sentence just sticks with you every day.
then the feeling of not-existing is induced by the polish political speeches you keep hearing so you make music as ecstatic, as colorful, as fast and as physical as you can, but it’s not enough. you’re still a non-human being so you make this music even faster, samples sharper and kicks louder.
and then you have “Human Sapiens Ep” - the collection of songs that make you feel a bit better and make you feel like a Human Sapiens.

Born in 1998, Warsaw-based Julian Płoski has recently been making noise among the Polish experimental scene. Despite only being 22, he can already boast about taking part in various residencies, performing dozens of gigs including one at UNSOUND (which described him as being “on the forefront of a new wave of very young electronic music producers in Poland”), or founding an ever-fluid label 𝑔𝓁𝒶𝓂𝑜𝓊𝓇. Julek’s critically acclaimed debut album "Tesco" saw him shoplifting field recordings while hunting for discount groceries, then genuinely fusing them with bare elements of contemporary club music or IDM into ominous, industrial sound collages. The second LP - “śpie” - released in Czech Gin&Platonic led the listener through extensive hypnagogia occurring during the onset of sleep, with all of its abrupt deflections one may eventually take while attempting to enjoy a quality rest. Now, the time has come to reveal “Human Sapiens Ep” - his clubby coming out.
