Cy Vance announced he would not seek reelection after four terms as DA of NY.  Whoever succeeds him will be just the fourth DA in the last 80 years.

Vance has left a mixed legacy - pushing through some reforms, tussling with former President Trump, criticized for mishandling high profile sexual predator cases and failing to reform Rikers and other problems.

When people think about immigration they aren't aware of the circumstances that immigrants have to live in every day. People often forget about the struggles teenagers face because they aren't talked about enough. In the midst of all the turmoil in Washington DC, just prior to control of the U.S. House of Representatives flipping from the Republicans to the Democrats, Congress and President Trump managed to pull off a bipartisan bill to reform federal sentencing and criminal justice laws.  On December 21st, Trump signed the FIRST STEP act into law, a bill that both the conservative National Review and the liberal Brennan Center both declared dead on arrival after it passed the House of Representatives last June.  Joining us now to discuss how legislators united over criminal justice reform is National Public Radio White House Correspondent Ayesha Rascoe.

How should we reform criminal justice at the Federal level?

Taking on the policies of the incumbent DA and Sheriff, JoAnn Walker, a SF Police Officer, and Pamela Price, a Civil Rights Attorney are running for Alemeda County Sheriff and DA as a team.
