Trip to maharloo سفر به مهارلو

Salam!
During April and May 2017, i traveled through the Islamic Republic of Iran. Beneath lovely people, beautiful landscape and great food, i searched and found pop records from the era before the islamic revolution.
Before Iran got an Islamic Republic, the country was ruled by the Pahlavi dynasty (1925-1979). A monarchy which opened the persian culture for western influences and repressed the religion of islam. This led to a few transcultural music-projects, which combined traditional instruments with western rock influence. Most of them were released on 7“ vinyls, by labels like Ahang-e Rooz, Royal, Iran Gram, Caspian and many more.
After the religious revolution those records were confiscated and destroyed. Until today, women are not allowed to sing in public anymore. Suddenly a whole music-movement was gone.

بین اوریل و مه ۲۰۱۷ من به ایران مسافرت کردم.
در کنار مردم مهربان و طبیعت زیبا و غذای خوب، من صفحه های موزیک پاپ از قبل انقلاب اسلامی را پیدا کردم. 
قبل از انقلاب اسلامی این کشور در حکوت پهلوی (۱۹۷۹ - ۱۹۲۵) بوده است. یک سلطنت که فرهنگ ایران را برای نفوذ غرب باز کرد و   دین اسلام را محدود کرد. این باعث شد که یک در درآمیختگی بین موزیک سنتی و الات موسیقی سنتی با موزیک راک غرب بوجود بیاید.
قسمت زیادی از این  درآمیختگی به صورت صفحه های ۷ اینچ (7“ vinyls) با برچسب های اهنگ روز، رویال، ایران گرام، کاسپین و غیره… عرضه شدند. بعد از انقلاب اسلامی این  صفحه های موزیک جمع شدند. 
تا اکنون به بانوان اجازه خواندن در موزیک به صورت رسمی و علنی داده نشده است. ناگهان یک حرکت در موزیک محو شد.

i saw the new year in at funk hause backstage for hyte berlin 6 hours of classics disco,house,80's from 23:00 an hour before the countdown till 5 in the morning music wise was the total opposite of the other to main stages which where huge this was nice and intimate 

there's a couple VILLALOBOS references in here that you should all get

Notes:
I work with samples* and put all fragments together in a pre-arranged live Set while I play the drums (Instruments: Drums/ Laptop/ MIDI-boards). 
In this mobile construction I can transform my Sets and manipulate them - it’s like building figures out of different material (collage). 
Parallel to this fragmental construction I play the drums to stretch the grooves, find new transitions between the scenes and highlight special loops. 
Added drums can mainly be heard in a live-improvisation, not so much in my previous releases. Live-Set and drums connected results in an experiment. 

*(mainly recordings of scapes, rhythmic manipulated elements, designed/ animal/ nature sounds and more)

Zusatzinformationen:
Ich arbeite mit Samples* und vereine sie in einem vor-arrangiertem Live-Set während ich zusätzlich das Schlagzeug spiele. 
(Instrumente: Schlagzeug/ Laptop/ MIDI-Boards). In dieser mobilen Konstruktion kann ich meine Sets in Teilen transformieren und manipulieren -  
es ist vergleichbar damit aus unterschiedlichen Materialien eine Figur zu bauen (Collage). Um Grooves zu verlängern, Übergänge zu definieren oder Szenen zu untermalen, improvisiere ich parallel mit dem Schlagzeug. Das zusätzliche Schlagzeug kann überwiegend live gehört werden und weniger in den bisherigen Veröffentlichungen. Das live-Set zusammen mit dem Schlagzeug ergibt ein Experiment.
