Downtempo In The Forest

I'm a former sound engineer from Translab Studio Paris, providing audio mastering for +650 releases including Pepe Bradock "Deep Burnt", and all Daft Punk's Crydamoure label. I've carved the French-Touch sound during 10 years and launched the lounge music movement. I initiated the first raves in France with my friend Manu Casana, sound-designed Karl Lagerfeld's shows amongst others. This is my new projet. 100 compilations, sharing my personal selection of the best contemporary music, mixed together in the most eclectic way, yet creating an unforgettable journey. This is my "Collection".

Après une Collection 010 très personnelle dans laquelle le mélange des genres aura été à son paroxysme, je vous propose ici le second volet de mon édition spéciale « moove edition » dédiée à la danse. 

C’est par un track de funk oversex et sur fond de sirènes de police new-yorkaises que je vais vous faire décoller pour ce nouveau voyage en long-courrier de 82 mn. Dans ce mix très électronique, j’ai voulu donner envie à des non-initiés de découvrir une certaine vision de la musique club en les embarquant dans une folle nuit en ma compagnie. 

Le mix vous emmènera sur différents terrains de jeu, passant d’une house aux influences afro à une disco-house filtrée et re-stylisée, puis une love house mélodique et tonique. Vous entendrez par la suite quelques remixes décalés de grands tubes implantés dans notre inconscient collectif, pour finir sur une Hard-house puissante et hypnotique.

Pour le découvrir et pour le déguster, imaginez-vous dans l’Espagne des années 90/2000, où dans les nuits suivies de leur traîne, on partait dans une aventure en changeant 3 ou 4 fois de lieux ou de clubs et où le sport national était de rentrer gratuitement. J’y ai connu de grands spécialistes ! 

Chaque endroit avait une couleur, un son propre, une ambiance et des murs d’enceintes. Tantôt un bar musical « muchas caliente » avec ses apparitrices accoudées au bar, tantôt un club très chaud au son groovy rempli de belles personnes. Les éventails y fusaient et des palmiers dans des pots venaient verdir une salle à plusieurs niveaux remplie d’alcôves. 

Après avoir repris la route pendant quelques kilomètres, un autre lieu, genre hangar en bord de route, dont le dancefloor était rempli de mecs qui dansaient avec des yeux de fous et qu’un stroboscope transformait en bucherons qui coupent du bois, comme dans à un vieux film noir et blanc.

Une heure et demie plus tard, pas assez de danseuses ! Alors on remontait en voiture pour aller 30 km plus loin dans un énorme club en bordure d’un aéroport et dont le dancefloor intérieur au son magique n’avait d’égal que son enceinte extérieure où tout le monde se retrouvait. A chaque décollage d’un avion, tout le monde hurlait et le son de la musique disparaissait dans le bruit assourdissant des réacteurs de l’avion qui nous survolait en nous rasant les moustaches, puis à la joie de tout le dancefloor, laissait tout renaître la minute suivante. 

Finalement après un nouveau tour de carrosse, nous atterrissons dans un mas espagnol autour d’une piscine, baignés par une musique d’after sur fond de lever de soleil. 

Une véritable offrande à la danse !
