There are dreams within dream within dreams ..so it seems.
I learned this last night in bed.
Layers of dreams upon layers of dreams,
all fitting inside my head.

Once, I thought I woke up,
but I was back in anther one.
Dreams within dreams:
it's become a conundrum.

In one dream I'm short, in another I'm tall.
First dream I fly, in the next one I fall.

I was just in a dream where I fell asleep.
When I woke, I was here, so it seems.
Not there while asleep, 
but right here 
and writing this song
about dreams within dreams....

She was one of those forever type girls with the messed-up curls
and freckles spattered every place, including pretty face.
And Splendor was her name.
Not believing in tomorrow; she put her faith in Now.
She rose as she got older, no longer silently abiding the passage of time, 
she became sublime.
It was all too much to accept so she crept off and slept,
cascading pearls parading around her neck,
a gift from the sea...
Given to taking before, she had much more recently taken to giving
and therefore lived in a state of Grace, 
metaphysically speaking.
Profound: the sea, which swims triumphant!
And it lived inside her eyes.
She was bent on benevolence. 
Impatient wasted wanderer.
Still, she seemed to prevail against the Darkness: spotless.

Down by the seaside is exactly where I found her. 
(Or she found me.)
I'm not that sure anymore and it doesn't matter.
It was during a low tide
or maybe no tide at all.
And she was drinking in the sunlight
as if it were fine wine, ethereal.
She was made of molecular material
and gesturing to me, 
or so I dreamed...
At that point I forgot to care
and became conscious again.
It was pure mischief and 
I had to laugh.
