rehearsal for my performance at Give Us the Night's Culture Night gig in St. Nicholas's Church, Galway City on 17/09/2021. My first gig since the pandemic obliterated live cultural events, in which I tried out a new live set up for the first time. My run through of the set the night before in the studio went nicely, and is what's uploaded here. I had some technical issues on the night itself so that's not the best example of my sound...but I'm happy enough with how this turned out.

Looped zither, feedback matrix mixer, amplified motors and lots of space...

Culture Night 2021 (eve)

Here's a short mix that I recorded for Eddie Reynolds' (Tr One) show on DDR, which was first broadcast on Friday 10th September 2021.  It's an homage to the Juke / Footwork sound of Chicago, mixing in other tracks of a similar tempo from 60s soul, post-punk, indie, 80s pop and electro-pop.  It's one of the shortest mixes I've ever done so I aimed to make the 30 minutes both fun and unpredictable, like a stormtrooper let loose on your pub jukebox.

What does it mean to (be queer) and come of age on the internet? 

In the past ten years, the queer games movement has exploded. Around the world, more and more people feel like they can make free and simple and strange games - ones that speak to queer stories and experiences. But it wasn’t always this easy.

Some queer gamers used the earliest, clunkiest internet to find each other in crisis, to find friends, community, and a lifeline support in a time when no one was paying attention. Follow the journeys of queer gamers as they reflect on their earliest experiences online - experiences of freedom and discomfort, of community and isolation. They’ve since become architects of the internet, contributing to online communities as media scholars and game developers, but for these queer gamers, it all started way back.
