Lights above a corner shop flicker on.
Insects buzz, signalling.
People linger in the evening,
in the summer heat after the sun 
has beat us down. 
Hey the earth has turned away
and gives us shade,
only for a time,
only for a time.
Indifferent to you and I.
So we all rest for another day.

This is what happens everyday.
We spin around in the Milky Way.
Nice to settle in for the duration.
It's not a contest.
Build your nest.
Build your nest. 

Ornate silver cup of time,
reminds me of another day. 
So hard sometimes to stay
here in the present.
Sometimes I feel I'm going insane.

A buzzing menace intrudes
in my thinking, wait for it to go.
Dark clouds split open.
Green lights all the way down the road.
Sleep in late, 
I don't want you to go. 

Collect some straw to build my nest,
imperfection at its best, 
but it's ok, it'll do, 
we're all here together; 
stop and marvel,
on the blue marble.
