Paris, early ‘90s. The city was a schizophrenic beast—half-glamour, half-decay—where raves exploded like molotov cocktails in abandoned warehouses and smoke-filled basements. It was beautiful chaos. Somewhere in the thick of it was Julien Veniel, better known as D’Julz, spinning records with the focus of a surgeon and the cool detachment of someone who had seen it all.
Then came New York, 1993. A city that didn’t sleep but didn’t really dream either, at least not back then. Veniel—young, hungry, and too talented to ignore—found himself in the depths of sweaty dancefloors, perfecting his craft like a prizefighter working the heavy bag. The kicks were tighter, the grooves deeper, and his sound—dub-infused, stripped-down, relentless—started to carve its way into the foundations of house and techno.
But Paris called him back. By 1997, he was behind the decks at the Rex Club, launching Bass Culture, a night that would quietly and ruthlessly become one of the most enduring parties in dance music. You could feel it in the air, heavy with smoke and sweat: something was happening. And week after week, D’Julz delivered. The music wasn’t just played; it was installed into your brain, a groove so potent it hijacked your nervous system.
The production side came next. 20:20 Vision, Ovum ,Circus Company. Robsoul. ,Rekids. Big labels, underground credibility. Tracks and remixes that hit like slow-burning dynamite—deceptively simple, brutally effective. DJs hoarded his records like they were holding nuclear launch codes.
Then there was Circoloco—DC10 . Ibiza’s sacred asylum for the beautifully deranged. D’Julz became a fixture for 7 years, a reliable madman behind the decks, controlling both the main room and the red terrace like a general marching his troops to the brink of delirium. His sets were measured doses of euphoria and dread, dubby basslines colliding with pulsing techno rhythms, all delivered with a sly grin and the calm of someone who knew.
By 2009, Bass Culture Records was born. A label as lean and unforgiving as its founder—no fluff, no filler, just raw, stripped-back house and techno that knew where it came from and where it was going. Over 70 releases later, it’s clear: D’Julz doesn’t miss.
Now, decades into this strange and relentless trip, D’Julz is still at it. The tour schedule is insane—Bali, Berlin, New York, and back again. Clubs and cities blend together, but the mission never changes: find the groove, ride it hard, and don’t let up until the lights come on.
D’Julz doesn’t care about trends. He doesn’t care about fame. He’s a purist, a craftsman, a man obsessed with the sound—the deep, pulsing, unstoppable sound. Three decades in and he’s still there, calm and unflinching, dropping records that hit like a gunshot in the dark.
If you want to understand D’Julz, don’t bother asking questions. Just listen. The truth is buried somewhere in the basslines.

"Opilec" (1917) is a story by Josef Čapek, a writer and cubist painter, brother of Karel Čapek, the man who is supposed to invent the term "robot" that originally meant "servant". From this important etymology, that truly inspired all Isaac Asimov literature, comes Opilec Music by Gianluca "I-Robots" Pandullo's fervent mind.

Opilec Music is a label project deeply built on all Asimov way of thinking about how technology is not an enemy of human genre but a help and a real and useful extension of our mind. The robot is our friend and the music too. Opilec Music feels contaminated by old school Disco, Chicago House & Detroit Techno, the early 80's Italo & Synth, Electro & Cosmic Disco and by the seminal Krautrock & Electronic musical genres that differently as strongly have conditioned the history and world dance conception.

Connecting the dots between the US’s and the UK’s early house and techno scenes and the more contemporary sounds of today’s dance floors, Your Only Friend is a DJ and Production Duo formed by longtime friends and collaborators Tres Manos and Steve Ferrand. Based in the thriving party Mecca of Barcelona, they are at the forefront of a new wave of artists blurring lines between genres and bringing diverse crowds together.

Both DJ’s have long histories as individual artists; Steve was a fixture on the UK’s free party and festival scene and Tres was a pioneer in the US’s club and warehouse scene. They would both eventually relocate to sunny Barcelona, where they met and began collaborating in 2005. Bonding over a mutual love of the underground music scene, they became among the most respected DJs and producers in the city.

As individual artists, both went on to put out releases on prominent labels Urban Torque, Dessous, Pack Up And Dance, Detour, Om Records, Justified Cause, and many more. As they became more and more well known in their scene, they teamed up to form the group Your Only Friend and the label of the same name to share their love of underground house and techno and help expose their favourite up and coming artists to a wider audience. The label featured releases and remixes from artists Joshua IZ, James Flavour, Rick Wade, Lady Blacktronika, Last Mood, and many more. Support from DJs and producers like Laurent Garnier, Tony Humphries, Funk D’Void, Andy Cato (Groove Armada) and Luke Soloman helped them establish an international presence.

In the ten years since their founding, Your Only Friend has gone on to became an institution. Both members have had successful solo projects, with Steve’s project ‘The Groovers’ scoring a hit on Brooklyn’s notorious Razor’N’Tape label with “Where You Belong,” as well as appearances on labels like Silver Network, Deep&Disco and Editorial, and Tres maintaining residencies at Zoo Project in Ibiza and Davide Squillace’s This And That Parties as well as collaborations with some of the musicians who inspired him in the first place, including remixes for Chicago legends Derrick Carter and Johnny Fiasco.

As they celebrate their ten year anniversary, look out for fresh music and lots more performances from the duo as they look forward to another decade of making people dance!

Born in East Berlin, Oliver Marquardt was first inspired to become a DJ when the 1984 Break Dance Film "Beat Street" permeated the city's isolated music scene. Equally influential was the dance music he listened to broadcasted from West Berlin radio.
After closely following these new music styles - hip hop, acid house etc - Oliver bought his own pair of turntables in 1989.
This was right after the Berlin wall came down, providing fertile soil for the city's new underground music scene to take roots and by the following year Oliver was organizing his own techno parties.
Although his illegal warehouse parties (complete with 50k watt laser lights) were noteworthy in themselves, Oliver forged ahead as one of the first german DJs to establish a nationwide presence. DJ Jauche, as he is known, began a residency at Berlin's legendary „Walfisch“ Club. Also he played regularly at many other Berlin Underground Clubs. By the mid 90's he had presented his unique style throughout Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Russia, Hungary and Malaysia, on top of countless clubs and events in his homeland.
Also mid 90's (1995 exactly) he had started his party "Jauchomatic" ( where he brought his brother Sven Marquardt into the club scene and gave him his first job as a "selector/doorkeeper" . Today Sven is famous for his work as an Artist and Photographer and of course as the " Iron Man" selector of Ostgut and now Berghain Club. ) and also the „Jet Stream Club“ and later the „Night Dimensions“ Party - Series.
Oliver still does his party „ Jauchomatic“ once a year in Berlin.
He plays music from 1988 until 1995, from house over techno to some Oldschool Trance Tracks, Acid and Breakbeats.
While the rest of the world still has been associating Germany with its stark techno output, DJ Jauche nurtured a parallel space for deep house sounds to evolve.
In 1998 he launched Jetstream, a small-scale record label of his own. For the 1999 edition of the annual summer festival Loveparade, Oliver prepared under the name Jack Flash a re-edit of the disco classic "Love is in the Air" and pressed 500 white label copies. When the track became an underground hit, he approached the production team Milk & Sugar (who were running a label under the same name) for advice on giving it a bigger release. Without Oliver's knowledge and with a bigger budget they appointed the track's original singer John Paul Young to record new vocals for their own version of the track and received a worldwide major label re-release in 2001, accompanied by a music video.
