XYZ and When We Dip present the Selectors series, where we give our family of producers an opportunity to display their prowess behind the decks. Expect unreleased material from across the label collective, as well as classic gems and heady grooves from some of the undergrounds finest heads.

We head to France, by way of Amsterdam, for the latest edition of Selectors. Margee certainly caught many-a-ear with his debut appearance on TOR - the sumptuous Plantalk EP. Stelios Vassiloudis is a composer, producer, and DJ hailing from Athens, Greece, and active in electronic music since the early 2000s. He has cultivated a sound of his own - one that reflects his rich and diverse musical background, transcending the dancefloor via an emotional narrative of complex soundscapes, intricate harmonies, and hypnotic rhythms.

Classically trained, with a Bachelor’s degree in acoustical engineering and a Master’s degree in composition and arrangement, Stelios carved his path in electronic music by traversing all over the globe as a DJ and live performer - performing at intimate underground bars in Beirut, festivals in Miami, aKer-hours in Tokyo, beaches in Goa and mega clubs in Argentina. 

Now, entering a new phase of his career, Stelios prepares to unveil his sophomore album, a collection of works that marks a departure from the narrow confines of club music and represents the essence of what he’s all about – an album that merges the limitless possibilities of electronic music, his formidable training in composition and arranging and his diverse formative influences.

Bio:

Mar io has been exploring the realms of electric music for quite some time, finding himself mostly in techno and house landscapes, with excursions into downtempo also occurring. Special emphasis is placed on the idea as well as the layering of groove and atmosphere, and Mar io's style is subject to constant evolution. Even after many years the learning process does not stand still and the goal is to get better with every new track, EP or album. Production is usually done with Cubase and digital, but the haptic and sonic edge of hardware synthesizers and drum machines always included.

The musical results of his journeys into the world of sound can be explored on labels such as Form&Terra Records, Broque, BluFin, Harthouse and Evosonic Records or heard in one of Mar io's producer podcasts, i.e. mix sets with exclusively his own productions. In the future Mar io wants to expand his own support platform "Akoasma Europe" as well as continue the way he started with Form&Terra Records.
