Käse Kochen is the progressive techno project of Australian producer/musician Harrison Downes. Taking on vast forms, the guise is characterised with hefty psychedelic melodic and epic musical ventures. As a result of years working diligently in the studio, studying music theory, releasing with some of the most respected relevant labels and performing at globally acclaimed festivals, Harrison continues to demonstrate his position on the forefront of the progressive techno scene. The aura of Kase Kochen is conceptualised within his debut album 'Encounters In Melancholy', available on Bassic Records.

A rainforest sanctuary. A phenomenon neglected from every atlas.

Colours, shapes, creatures native to the sunburnt bushlands, fill the labyrinth. A truly distinctive display of vibrance. The passageway walls are penetrated by beams of light that set aglow greens and golds, purples and blue hues. Darkness occupies the leafy edge and ominous corners, shrouding the maze in thrill.

The journey takes many forms. The destination unbeknownst to those within the labyrinth, but the destination remains unimportant.

⇸ About 'Labyrinth, Lost In Techno 02' ⇷

Bassic Records’ second instalment of ‘Labyrinth, Lost In Techno’ showcases the definitive and colourful styles of Australian electronic dance music, ever growing in popularity. Influenced heavily by nature and the unique dance events that take place in the great outdoors, the sound takes form as progressive and psychedelic jaunts of techno and house, driven by emotive storytelling.

The 14 track compilation comprises of label stalwarts Doppel, Gabriel Moraes, Ark-E-Tech, Rainbird, TAYA, EEEMUS, John Baptiste, Käse Kochen, Monotreme, Victor Y, and collaborators Nanoplex (UK), Waveback (IT), Mud (IT/DE), Spintribe (RU), Diamandy (SE), Sandokan (IL), Charles Oliver, Biomass, Mecca, Samwise and Yokobus.

Sitting at an average of 125bpm, the compilation reaches a beefy 127 with ‘Spurge’ by Gabriel Moraes and is rounded off with the deep intricate closer, Mud’s ‘Mistakes’ at a neat 113bpm. Exploring an array of unique sub genres, some tracks can be identified as progressive techno, progressive house, psytech, deep techno, others are difficult to categorise into anything.

We call it ‘bush techno’.

The bushfires that ravaged our home of Australia between September 2019 - February 2020 are one of the most savage and disastrous natural events that the country has ever known.

Over 25.5 million hectares of land were burnt (110,000+ square kilometres), 3000+ homes destroyed, 30 people and more than 1 billion mammals, birds and reptiles died.

100% of the proceeds from each sale of Bushfire Aid VA Series Part 1 and Part 2 will officially go directly to the Australian Wildlife Conservency’s Bushfire Response Campaign, as they work tirelessly in the field to protect numerous species of animals that are now endangered and threatened due to the bushfire season disaster of 2019/20.

Upon donating, aside from the music you will also receive a pdf file from AWC themselves with specifics on the Bushfire Response Campaign that you will be supporting with your donation.

Between his Käse Kochen alias and birth-name project Harrison Downes, he prolifically releases on Stone Seed, Digital Structures and Techgnosis Records, along the way collaborating with and remixing the likes of The Riddler/Talpa, Maksim Dark, Jossie Telch, Electrypnose, Luis M, Carbon, Sugar Glider and scores of Australia’s most talented.
 
Käse Kochen’s full length album “Encounters In Melancholy” embodied the concept and journey of the project. Encounters was revisited with a stunning 2020 remix album, and proceeded by the immense Encounters Vol III, that saw Käse Kochen intertwine with artists such as The Riddler, K.A.L.I.L, Dysphemic, Ben Coda and more, forging his name with the elite of the psychedelic scene.

Launching in 2019, the Harrison Downes project quickly gained serious momentum, with his debut single ‘Desiderata’ on Techgnosis Records as well as singles and remixes of Doppel, Rainbird, Waveback, Maxi Basshead / Hoodat and Käse Kochen across Stone Seed, Digital Structures and SixthSense Australia platforms.
