I wrote ‘Joy’ as an expression of gratitude to the people I love; my girlfriend, family, and friends. They’ve been by my side through the coldest and darkest moments; through my grief. My last single, ‘Better days’ represented the transition out of winter into spring. ‘Joy’ represents the summer, a time to share happiness with the people I care about the most. They are my Joy.

“I hugged the famous LSD chemist Nick Sand in Oakland the day before he died in 2017 at the MAPS conference for Psychedelic Science, and I thanked him for his service to humanity. He told me “we already won” and I will never forget those words and his immortal spirit. This piece is a tribute to his life and work that I drew during the lockdown in 2020. It is a fantasized version of my wife in the style of 1960s San Fransisco rock and roll poster psychedelia glory. In this vision, she is representing the archetype of the bearer of the inner wisdom of love that resides in every human’s heart. The rose, the crystal, and the rainbow.”

“This piece started as a commission piece. Originally, I was given the basic parameters of doing a tree in a field that shows peace and tranquility. It is a piece I worked on throughout 2020, and eventually it became more important and spiritually symbolic than the original commission idea. The commissioner of the piece saw an updated photo of the painting and wanted me to remove Metatron’s Cube from the image even after I explained its symbolism. He had originally said I had total freedom with the piece, and so I decided it was best to leave the image how it had developed and respectfully decline the commision. As Above, So Below. Self reflecting self. This piece was a lesson in not compromising my artistic vision for an audience or for profit, but remaining true to myself and the freedom of creativity.”

From its delicate opening chord to its cacophonous finale, ‘Glory’ is a journey through the idea of connection. 

Far from its genesis in the serene farmlands of NSW, ‘Glory’ was developed by the band in their studio in Sydney, Australia. Enlisting the help of producer and recording engineer Jack Prest, Broken Mountain went into Studios 301 to record, shortly before the iconic studio complex moved premises. The ‘Glory’ session was one of the last recordings to be made in the legendary Studio A live room.

The band is comprised of Andrew Bruce (The Possé, Wallace, New Venusians, Okenyo, Sampa The Great, Ngaiire) on keys and vocals, drummer and producer Nicholas Meredith (E^ST,  Anatole, Dreller, Kcin, Fiction Writer, Jesse Redwing, Guineafowl), and bass and keys player Brendan Clark (Jesse Redwing, Fiction Writer, Oliver Thorpe, Air land and sea).

"I wrote ‘Glory’ after a trip to Bellingen in the winter,” says Bruce. “I was there with some friends and we drove to a place called the Promised Land, next to the Never Never River. The area is beautiful and has a special energy. It was there that I wrote the poem 'Glory' which formed the basis of the song as we know it today.”

“It's about reflecting on an innate connection towards nature. It's about pausing and immersing yourself in your environment." 

Broken Mountain are a subtle force. Despite each individual’s impressive talents the trio have formed an extremely rare, collaborative bond. Taken from the group’s debut release, ‘Glory’ is a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come. .

Heralded as "Austin's pop queen" by the Austin Chronicle, Kady Rain is on a mission to put Austin on the map as a pop metropolis. Kady creates songs as diverse as her fashion sense, and has performed all around, most notably SXSW international music festival as an official artist as early as 2008 and ACL Festival  as an official artist in 2019. Her love for music and the stage started at just 15 years old, where she performed at the legendary Austin venue The Broken Spoke.  Her first globally released feature was on Zé Dos Frangos' 2007 releases "Slack And Crewel" and "Madeira".  After many single releases (2012's I Tried, 2015's Infinity, and 2016's All I Ever Wanted  EP, and more) her long-awaited self-titled full length was released in January 2022. The album has received praise from PAPER Mag, Under the Radar, the Austin Chronicle, Austin Monthly, and more, and achieved top 10 placement at dozens of radio stations across North America.  Her music video for Got Away, directed by Jackie Pardue, received 7 film festival laurels, and the music video for her song Famous, directed by Ali Hopson, has also received several film festival nods.
