On a quest to produce "Straight Fire" this DBS compilation is a mix of tracks created by a handful of talented students @ St. Georges School and a collection of independent contemporary artist that stretch across a variety of genres. The artists music has been used in the class room throughout the year for instruction and inspiration.  Over the 2017/18 school year the students worked with an Artist In Residence learning music history, songwriting, producing and recording in order to create their music. Kai Nanfelt began struggling with anxiety and depression at 21-years-old, at which point he began writing and playing guitar. Songwriting then became an outlet for him, and the 23-year-old hasn't looked back, since. 

Kai places a heavy emphasis on mental health and other sensitive topics in his writing, including substance abuse, domestic violence, abortion and suicide. With his heart on his sleeve, he hopes that he can be an outlet for others, much like writing is for him.
