To celebrate Grid 2nd anniversary, we gathered together thirteen earth-shattering tracks from the bass scene’s most promising creators, all aimed to move you in the most primordial way. Evoking images of vast landscapes and deep underground catacombs.

This compilation takes the listener deep into the earth with twisted percussion workouts from the likes of Jabes, Piezo, Ronan and Sister Zo… and back into the light with serene compositions from E-unity, Tammo Hesselink and A Psychic Yes, whilst Jay Duncan, Basile3 y Clara!, Jonny From Space, Flaty, Seekersinternational, and blu-e join the dots with their genre-defying creations.

As was the case with Grid’s previous compilations 'Improvisations' and 'Da Capo Al Coda', the label once again puts its stamp on a moment in the underground by collecting together productions of the highest quality that push the boundaries but undeniably make you want to move.

"I live in a small scene-less seaside town called Southport in the North West of England where there isn’t much to do other than wander beaches, parks and dunes and nab vinyl from the record and charity shops with intent to make tunes. Growing up I've been exposed to all types of music from Jazz to Jungle, Easy Listening to Hardcore, you name it. I like all kinds of music and try to incorporate elements from multiple genres fused with my favourite heartbeat - breakbeat Jungle. JUDDER proudly presents the first release in the series of singles and EPs — a "Disposal Ashore" EP by Kapha. Drawing inspirations from UK Bass, both early 2000s and contemporary dubstep, as well as other cutting edge experimental sonics, Kapha enigmatically yet deftly blends rhythms and vibes in this four-tracker. His minimalistic approach to arrangement allows to concentrate on the deep groove and atmospherics, while leaving plenty of space for the core elements, which greatly showcases his distinctive take on music production.

"When I started work on this EP I had a clearer than usual concept in mind. Historically I have tended to chip away at several sketches alongside each other, working until I have enough material to form a release. This time around I knew that I wanted to make a four track EP and that it would be geared further toward a club setting than some of my previous output. I also decided to adopt a faster and more methodical workflow; I would work quickly once I had the bare bones of a track, not allowing myself much time to agonize over the finer details, overcooking it, as is all too often the demise of a good idea. Once I had a shortlist of tracks to get over the line, I would finish them one-by-one in series, rather than simultaneously in fits and starts. Aside from ‘Toe Curl’, each track here was road tested in a live performance setting at least once during its development, forcing me to strip them back and emphasize their most exciting elements, and to remove any stretches that went on for too long unnecessarily. I think that this way of working has resulted in music that is less fussy and more cohesive than it might otherwise have been. Hence ‘Writ Large’: Clear, stark, exaggerated."

KTSNS releases music with the intent of providing broad and radical DJ tools.

The first release series focuses on tempo, exploring how different sensations of time can be created with the same BPM. All the tracks in each release have the same BPM, as indicated in the title. We’re proud to present 140 EP by Dayzero for our fourth release.

Dayzero is full of ideas, flexible, and has surprised us many times with the speed at which he flows from input to output. Starting with “Daruma E.P.” from Livity Sound, it was clear that he had begun to push the originality that he had maintained in the authentic dubstep sound since the beginning of his career to a further phase. Since then, we have been communicating frequently, spending many nights together, and he quickly turned each of them into tracks and presented them to us again and again. Finally, this EP was born in response to our request to see a new side of Dayzero.

He pours a new unified beat pattern into the BPM that he is most familiar with, and re-deconstructs the techniques of sound design, bass line, dubwise, etc. that he developed during his experience producing dubstep/bass music, which is the starting point of his career, and reconstructs them into four amazing DJ tools that will shake your brain and body.

“Perc” features uniquely spatially processed percussion that attacks you from all directions, while “Synth” features a looped synth sound that continues to change throughout the tune, inviting you to the instinctive pleasure of dance music. “Texture” highlights Dayzero's sound design by assigning unusual texture sounds to a simple composition. And “Bass” approaches bass line formation with a different impression from other songs by adding variation through bass layering.

解体新書 (Kaitai-Shinsho) was launched in January 2017.

解体新書 focuses on reconstructing various styles and contexts of old and new electronic music which are transmitted from all over the world to Tokyo. We are aiming for a unique sight that can be realized because it's from Tokyo's underground dance floor. 

And the label project〈KTSNS〉focuses on releasing music that can be used as a DJ tool in a broad and radical sense.
