“The world is unpredictable. Creation is also unpredictable. Most of the time, artists have very strong opinions and statements, so sometimes it is not easy to make music with other artists. However, for me, art is the process itself. I invited Japanese artist, yolabmi to work together on this project, expecting we can accept the complexity, embrace each other’s recording materials, and then add our own sounds within and do the editing. I arranged the first 30 minutes and yolabmi arranged the last 30 minutes. We both really enjoyed the process. Hope the audience will enjoy our journey as well.” ― Jin

Second Travel. Sophie is the half of the marvelous SpatzHabibi and co-founder of the Label Polychrome Sounds. She delivered for the "Night Travel on a Blanket Show" a pictorial set. Based on the "Inventions for Radio" of Delia Derbyshire, Sophie gives us through this story the pigmentation of the sounds. The darkness of the gloom is now a wander into a night filled with stained dreams.

If you take myth and folklore, and these things that speak in symbols, they can be interpreted in so many ways that although the actual image is clear enough, the interpretation is infinitely blurred, a sort of enormous rainbow of every possible colour you could imagine.

Campfire Stories is a mix series by friends of Silent Season. The focus of the series is on storytelling through deeper electronic music. Artists weave together narratives using the emotional characteristics of ambient and techno music.

The marine forms abound in the sea depths, in marshes which are flooded at high tide, in shallow inlets and the muddy bottoms underlying the sandy surface of the seashore. The fresh water forms are plentiful on the mossy stones of mountain streamlets, pools bordering rivulets, dripping rocks.

For home use only’ is an anti-club social, a chance to get to know someone/something. A series of transmissions purely dedicated to exploring the other side.

So here we are, number 28. All grown up, thinking we know everything and that the world is at our beck and call. Little do we know, that is exactly what we know - little. Consistently hungry for knowledge, we peruse through the audible world looking for spikes in our interest in every way or form. Sometimes knowledge finds us. In this case, it comes in a form of a single human by the name of Chris, or Chris SSG or Chris of the former musical oracle, MNML SSGS aka Minimal Sausages (r.i.p). And it shall be known from this moment forward as, Number 28. 

 
If you’re reading this then you probably have Chris to thank. He was a pivotal influence in my (and probably your) musical upbringing. For five solid years,Chris and PC (the other founding member) consistently flooded the world with incredible mixes and unbiased musical journalism through their blog. Most of the mixes are still very much alive and well to this day, in-fact they’re quite sort after. After the end of SSGS, Chris moved to Tokyo to continue to sooth the world in his own unique way, veering away from the traditional ideals of “dance” music and how it's perceived and listened to. 

 

This mix is a testament to that. Playing ambient music to a club full of people has always been a personal dream of mine (you don’t have to dance to enjoy yourself and at least there’s a chance that people will finally shut up on the dance floor). Strung together perfectly, the journey entails so many beautiful and subtle twists and turns that it perfectly fits every atmosphere. Just over two hours of pure bliss, I liken the mix to a session in an isolation tank, relaxing yet stimulating. Odd soundscapes laced with beautiful folk music all woven together with the cream of what we now know as “ambient music” (until we find a more appropriate term).

 
Chris will be doing his thing at the next ONO party (TIP! some very good friends doing some very good things/ link below). He’s joining some other great thinkers alike in bring forth of what will be an incredible night of music.

The mistake is in thinking music is about music. Music is about people. The bonds we make, the experiences we share, the conversations we have: this is the meaning and substance of it. This podcast was made possible by Nadine in Germany, Josh and Gregory in Taiwan, Eileen in Singapore, Toss in Japan, Louis in Australia, and all the producers whose music I used. It was recorded at ‘Soft Landing’, the first ambient event hosted by The Council in Singapore in July 2019. The recording reflects that context and moment, but hopefully carries to wherever you are. 'hmmm' is the live ambient project of myself and @harrycharles. We performed it for the first time this year - along with a DJ set - on Sunday morning at the Ambient Floor at Garbicz. 

Poetry & music written by @lemonella & @harrycharles, produced by Harry, and featuring @cesarbmusic on trombone. The lyrics in the final poem of the live set are taken from the late American folk musician, Jackson C. Frank.
