I create because I must. I design and produce sound to translate invisible thoughts into tangible form. I believe creativity has value — not only spiritual, but real, measurable, and worthy of support. This is not ambition. This is survival through creation.

Writer, neuroscientist, musician/producer based in Muscle Shoals, AL: 

I've always heard music in my head. Sometimes bits - a melody, rhythm,  chord progression - sometimes full pieces. I build on what I’m given. I'm very grateful. 

My childhood influences were mostly soul, blues, Southern gospel, country, and jazz. I’ve absorbed a bit of almost everything else since. I have no formal training. That has drawbacks, but it makes it easy to bend or ignore rules. 
 
Almost NONE of my music fits into an existing genre. There’s a saying the Marines have about dealing with obstacles: “Improvise, Adapt, Overcome”. I agree. I took the liberty of creating a new category for myself and like-minded musical artists: INTERGALACTIC MUSIC. 

We'll all learn exactly what that means together. For now, I'll say that I seek to honor the past while creating something new, and do my heroes proud in the process.

McDead is the musical vehicle of London born producer and archaeologist Kev Edinborough - travelling all over. His music is heavily influenced by the alternative/electronic scene he grew up with working as roadie and then guitarist back in 1990's South East England, playing dozens of dodgy and later not so dodgy venues, before going back to college, getting a PhD and being an archaeologist when not making music. Hard to nail down, McDead draws inspiration from Captain Beefheart and Extreme Noise Terror as much as Steve Reich, Jimi Hendrix and Mr Bill.

The first McDead album was recorded in Melbourne with Plastic Jungle Records at Laneway Studios, with a limited vinyl release pressed at Zenith Records which sold out in 2021. Thanks for all your support!
